A great stay in Chipata!

My first stay was unplanned, I was feeling ill in South Luangwa and we decided to stay at Protea Chipata while I rest and recover. The hospitality and care from the entire team was just wonderful.
They even catered gluten free meals (I have celiac disease) and showed such great concern, it left a lasting impression.
Our next visit, we received the most warmest welcome back. So many team members came up to greet us and welcome us back. It’s just so special. The meals are prepared with such pride, the service is impeccable.
I can’t name everyone personally as every single staff member was great, but Kelvin, Zak’s, Nyirenda and the rest of team are just amazing. Paul the guard is such a delight!
We highly recommend you enjoy the wonderful stay at Protea Chipata.

Back room management poor

Rooms are great, waiters and staff friendly. However no zero sugar drinks, no sparkling water, not all items on the dinner menu available.
This is supposed to be the best in town and I am very disappointed after a long trip to get here. Senior management need a wake up call as they are doing their own staff a disservice let alone the Protea brand.

Thank you for your review. We're glad you found the rooms great and appreciated the friendliness of our staff. However, we hear your concerns about the limited drink options and availability of menu items, as well as your disappointment following your travels. Your feedback about management has been noted, and we truly value you taking the time to share your experience.

Calamari rings dish has to be looked into

Before last week, I was at protea only for lunch with my wife and we ordered beer battered fish and calamari rings. The fish was not bad at all but the calamari rings first came cold and and after it was warmed up the structure of the calamari was just not right, plus it felt like an elastic band in your mouth. We tasted it but sent the whole dish back apart from one bite. It can be that something doesn't come out they way it should, but what surprised me, that the bill was still showing the Calamari after the complaint. What I would have done is; offering an alternative, something else from the menu, the person can still eat and not leave the restaurant with an empty stomach or remove the amount from the bill. So that was a bit disappointing!

Best Restaurants in Chipata

Unlike last year when I was there, the overall impression has improved. The rooms are cleaned sensibly and the elderly and very nice gentleman cleans the house already in the early morning hours. The kitchen is really great comes however with larger groups in difficulty with time management.
The reception is always manned and competent.
The colleagues around Moses an dr Bar are all on their toes and really great.
I would love to come back

Best Hotel in Chipata

Easily the best hotel in Chipata. The front desk staff are EXCEPTIONAL. I have travelled all over the world and been lucky enough to experience some of the best hotels in the world and I can safely say that from a service, attitude and friendliness point of view, Protea Hotel Chipata is right up there amongst the very best. Whilst the hotel itself is good enough with clean rooms, great facilities and proper WiFi, the staff make this hotel everything it is.
