I know this hotel was cheap but overall the stay was still disappointing.
My main grievance was being woken up many times in the night by a very loud noise from the plumbing.
The safety locks on the 1st floor window just fell out when we opened the windows.
The room was acceptably clean but the bathroom wall tiles were filthy. One bedroom corner also stank of cat pee.
There was no fan or working a/c in the room so I had to borrow one from reception.
The receptionist was saying everyone’s room numbers out loud whilst checking people in.
When booking it said the pool was closed from 2nd July to November so we didn’t take swim stuff, but when leaving we saw someone swimming in it.
The bathroom in particular was rather run down with peeling paint etc but the whole room looked in need of tlc.
The positives were they did put an extra bed for our toddler, it’s pet friendly so we could bring our dog and the parking was free. The bedding was also clean.
If it weren’t for being woken up so many times I probably wouldn’t have cared about the other issues.
I did tell the receptionist on check out so hopefully future guests of room 402 won’t be so unlucky.
We had also (wrongly) assumed there would be a mini fridge in the room, unfortunately there wasn’t which then caused difficulty trying to keep milk cold for our 2 year old.

DO NOT STAY HERE. !

Visited & stayed at this hotel due to a family wedding that took place here.
Never again if you’re staying in room 306 family room then please be warned for a no sleep stay ! The hotel on the second floor is Extremely hot due to “ there on going issues with her heating pipes that run under this level & the room its self is even hotter due to this hitting 40c temperature with no air conditioning available and only broken fans and no additional fans given. ( they also don’t pick up the phone when u need assistance) as staff are outside smoking instead of being at the desk , The weather temperature wasn’t overly hot on this day either temperature only reached 20c max and we didn’t enter the room untill evening anyways. But customer service Will blame this on weather even thought there own staff disclosed to us that it has been an ongoing complaint from others too that have stayed at this hotel and even people that was staying there the same night on the 2nd floor has complained as well all through out the years & all weather conditions. So no this wasn’t due to weather as they will claim ! The sheets has stain marks on ( photo evidence ) the bathroom was dirty with thick dirt and dust in the air vents , marks inside of the bath tub, corners on flooring was dirty with old dirt and hole in the wall in the bathroom too for over £100 stay you don’t expect this there is one small window in this room only so no air ventilation. Please reconsider staying if you need a family room with children as temperatures in this room was dangerous even school close when temperatures hit this heat as it’s not safe we was all up all night long and left extremely early to check out and was out side most of the night trying to cool down from the extreme temperatures in this room as couldnt rest in the room due to that anyways. They also won’t refund / part refund just shocking tbh !

Lovely hotel needs some TLC

Hotel is clean but a little outdated, our room had a blind in the bathroom which didn't work, window lock was broken and hanging down and the toilet seat was not fixed properly. We were there for a family event they has few staff manning the event and ran out of stuff had in the other bar but didn't have the staff to go and get. The food at the event was outstanding and hot and tasty! breakfast could have been warmer and had been out a while but a lovely location and the staff were friendly and welcoming. a bit of TLC and this could be an amazing hotel!

Awful do not book!!

My partner booked this as a surprise spa weekend as this hotel is advertised as just that! On arrival I was told the pool was broken along with the steam room and sauna. But I could use the gym. They informed me they have stopped providing any kind of spa treatments and have done so for 3 or more yrs. We met 2 other couples who also who also booked for the spa weekend. We were also charged extra for the spa that wad not even working anf refused a refund on this. I was advised that there was a notice on the website - agreed there is but nowhere near noticeable and once you have booked that non refundable room its too late the same as the extra for spa.
We were allocated a room on the top floor. When we opened the door we were hit with heat! The room was an unhealthy temperature to the point I was feeling sick.
I adked to be moved to a lower floor and the receptionist allocated us a suite lovely of her you would think but my god it was absolutely awful worse condition that the room on the top floor and id have been fuming if I paid for it! Ripped sheets, feces on the toilet bowl from previous people, Rose petals everywhere that havent been cleaned, tacky broken mirrors etc holes in carpet, fag ash all in the window sill. I was in total shock!
The staff were ok but most were grumpy and unhappy but you can blame them working in a run down broken hotel who are having to deal with unhappy customers
The door had been burnt too.
In all my years i have never left a hotel or holiday early. We left a night early and will never return again.

AVOID THIS HOTEL , I booked a room with air conditioning , check in very good and staff were helpful, On entering the room I noticed 2 fans , one either side of the bed, no air conditioning, the room was extremely hot and uncomfortable . I went back down to reception where I was informed that no rooms do not have air conditioning and have not for at least 6 years , shown reception staff my booking on hotels.com that shows rooms with air conditioning, offered a free drink or breakfast as compensation , declined as did not want a drink and leaving earlier than breakfast started in morning, reception staff said they would arrange refund if I checked out now ,but as I had just driven around 200 miles from Cheshire and it was now after 9.30pm , I had no choice but to stay. On my return to the room I needed to use the toilet , the seat was loose and nearly caused an injury, I started to look around the room , the shower was filthy, windows filthy, wardrobe filthy on top ,an iron burn on the bed throw, there was dust and dirt everywhere, it looked like the room had not been cleaned properly for a long time, there are various maintenance issues, bathroom flooring needs sticking back , wardrobe doors need aligning, general painting, the room was very tatty and in need of refurbishment, when I was ready to go to bed, I trod on something in the carpet, it was a toe or finger nail clipping , I then looked under the bed and it looks like it has not been vacuumed for a long time,
