Lovely pub with rooms on the classic Coast to Coast (C2C) bike route.

Lovely pub with rooms on the classic Coast to Coast (C2C) bike route. Friendly & helpful staff. Hearty food on the menu and good selection of beers and wines. Rooms were clean & comfortable, beds seemed new and ideal for a good night's sleep. Full english breakfast set us up for day 2 of the C2C. Gluten free bread is available but do request when booking. Lockable bike storage on site ( request when booking). I'd like to go back sometime.

Disappointed

4 choices of toasted ciabatta fillings. We all ordered one each with various fillings. What we actually got was an Untoasted panini???????? The Cumberland sausage toasted ciabatta was more like a curly cocktail sausage, not even a whole curly cocktail sausage, with absolutely No resemblance to a Cumberland sausage !!!!
These ciabatta’s ( Paninis ) took 40 minutes to be presented!!!!
A real disappointment, certainly would not recommend this place for food.

Have had a nice meal here a while ago however on this visit Food not good at all, pies were hard, chips not good, presentation left a lot to be desired, won’t be returning

Dog friendly pub with good food

We had Sunday lunch here with our dog who was made very welcome.
Timothy Taylors Landlord on tap. Choice of red wines.
We both had roasts. My lamb shank was huge. Generous portions of vedge which was not overcooked.
Good choice of puddings although we were so full we had to share one.
The service was slightly haphazard.
