Just Incredible!

Finding this hotel online seemed like a too good to be true situation, that it couldn’t possibly be as amazing as everyone says it is - but it ended up somehow exceeding our expectations.
We started our trip to Switzerland here with a 3 night stay to start off the trip with some fun for our 6 year old. From the moment we arrived, we realized that every detail has been so carefully thought out by the owners and is delivered seamlessly by the staff. The owners regularly are present, checking on service and ensuring that guests are enjoying their stay.
Everywhere you turn there is something simple yet magical for the kids. A kid size construction set that operates with a coin (available at the front desk), a fountain that makes surprise juice with a marble, a 24/7 pool, a slide that takes the kids from the 2nd floor to the lobby, animals everywhere with group feeding every morning, coordinated kids events, a train that leads the kids to a kid friendly dinner buffet, nightly bounce houses safely run by age groups, and most importantly the ability for kids to have a bit of freedom and just be kids. Most places we have visited, kids are just tolerated but here - they are the main focus.
But what about the adults you may ask? We were greeted after a long travel day with a welcome drink, met the owner within a few moments of our arrival, had excellent options for food at all times of day (breakfast and dinner was included and there were lunch offerings at a very reasonable cost with the most gorgeous scenery), had nightly wine tasting, enjoyed a relaxing dinner where our son could go play with the children in the play areas which were right next to the dining room, and were just treated with exceptional service the entirety of our stay.
We never had any issue with the staff speaking English to us. Yes, there are a lot of guests who speak Swiss German and some of the events such as the wine tasting are in German which the hotel is very clear about on their website when booking, however we never had any difficulty communicating during our stay. Menus are in German with English descriptions as well.
And I can’t finish without mentioning Braunwald. What a stunning place. The views from the hotel are incredible. The area has wonderful kid friendly hikes. We went a few days before some of the gondolas opened, however were still able to hike without issue. Also, we did a kid scavenger hunt in Linthal which was recommended by the staff and it was so much fun! You pay a fee, get a kids backpack (need to return at the end) full of tools to use on your search and it was a lot of fun. You buy it at the Linthal station - and the kind staff member let us know that they didn’t have the instruction/guide book in English but we used a translate app where we took a photo of each page and it translated everything as we went. It was an absolute highlight.
We will never get over this place! Many thanks to the Vogel family for helping make our trip so magical. We hope to return someday and absolutely recommend it to others who are considering making the trip.

Ein tolles Familienhotel

Danke an das Maerchenhotel und alle seine Mitarbeiter - wir haben eine tolle Woche dort verbracht.
A few tips for any families like us: we travelled from the UK with two small kids, aged 2 and 4. I am German and the kids understand German, which I think helped! Whilst at first, guests were mainly Swiss, in the second half of our stay we noticed many Americans and the hotel did try to cater for English speakers wherever they could (they even provided translation headphones for the daily fairy tale). But do note that they are primarily Swiss spoken and they do make this clear on their website!
We took public transport to get to the hotel - there's a train from Zurich to the bottom of the mountain (some lovely views of Zurich Lake and then the mountains en route), and then the funicular takes you up (the hotel provides you with a free pass to use this for your stay).
All very well organised, they took our luggage at the bottom of the funicular and delivered it up, picked us up with the electric shuttle from the station and greeted us at the hotel, with a little gift for the kids.
There is so much to do on the hotel site for kids - slides everywhere, animals, playgrounds, go karts, trampoline, a bouncy castle, a soft play area, the pool etc. Our kids were so busy everyday. The creche team also organise activities every day. Whilst our kids did not want to go to the creche (I didn't force it), they did enjoy activities such as the daily animal feeding, a llama walk and the evening bouncy castle! They absolutely LOVED the Pinocchio fountain.
The food is great: lots of choice at breakfast and the cow of course a highlight for the kids, as was the Eggs-press! Dinner was yummy and plenty, you have a choice of options everyday and usually a lovely salad and cheese buffet too. We took it in turns every night for one of us to enjoy the wine tasting in the evening (whilst the other supervised the kids at the fairy tale. If your kids are older, they can stay unsupervised!).
The hotel provides so many items to make life easier whilst you're there - it definitely took the mental load off me for the week! No more worrying about packing bibs, entertainment and nappies when you're heading to dinner: everything is provided! And they're happy to provide whatever they can if you ask - we asked for a potty for our toddler which they happily provided us with!
They also have mountain prams and hiking rucksacks you can borrow anytime for free. This was great and allowed us to go on a few hikes around the area! If you want some inspiration, we did: walked to Huettenberg (nice playground there), took the gondola up to Grotzenbuehl (another playground! and rope park), then we followed the adventure path back down - past a nice waterfall with a water playground!
Another day we headed into the valley and did the adventure trail there starting at the Braunwald Bahn. You can hire a rucksack with materials for the trail, which I would recommend doing!
There's also a short but nice trail starting at the hotel looking for dwarves.
The town is a 5 minute walk downhill from the hotel - you can find a tourist information, a nice little cafe, and a shop selling essentials there.
Lovely views of the mountains all around and it was so refreshing to escape the London bustle and enjoy some clean mountain air!

Amazing Family Vacation

Our vacation with our four year old girl was indeed a fairytale!!
All of us had an amazing time there. First, the location is outstanding with many paths to walk/ bike around, in a very quite and pristine environment.
Second, the hotel is more of boutique style family hotel, with everything the kids can dream of.
Third, staff is of outstanding service and eager to assist in anything, whether food not in the menu, or walk advices.
Thank you all for making a truly memorable experience.
