The hotel was run down, not well maintained and breakfast was average. When we asked for a small amount of fresh milk for our coffee in the room, the staff came back with a large glass full of milk wanting 25 SEK.

The hotel is nicer than the resort

Nice little hotel in the heart of Markaryd. The hotel cannot be blamed for the fact that Markaryd is not a particularly fun place. Walking distance to the Weaving Museum and the train station. Good breakfast, friendly staff and a reasonably large breakfast buffet that contained the most important things.

Bad service in a closet size room

I had booked an allergy room for two nights. They gave me a closet size room with a door so narrow that I could hardly fit in. The room was some 6 m2 with a bathroom so small that you could take a shower while sitting on a toilet. And the room was freezing cold.
The first night I asked for a bigger room but they said they are sold out. I asked to change the next day and the reception girl promised to change the following evening with extra charge. I came back the following evening at 5pm. She said she cannot change the room since I did not give them my key when I left in the morning. What??? Everybody else left with their keys as well, that’s how people usually do, and nobody said anything about leaving the key to the reception. We all heard her say that she can do the change in the evening. How do they clean any rooms if they don’t have Spare keys?? I feel this girl has no idea of what customer service is. She was disrespectful and lying. I’m never ever going to step into this horrible hotel again. Neither should you if this is the way they treat all older customers. And I surely treated her nicely.

First I would like to apologize that you experienced your stay with us as horrible.
You booked a single room, allergy room which you have got. You wanted to change your room to a bigger one but unfortunately we were fully booked and could not arrange that for the first night. We told you that we could help you with a double room from the second night. But as you did not check out from your single room in the morning we could not make the change as the hotel was fully booked and check in starts at 15.
I am really sorry if you did not receive the information you needed to move out of the room and hand in the key in the morning in order to be able to get a bigger room. We will of course take this with us to differentiate our routines so room changes will go more smoothly in the future.
