Today was a very important and memorable day for us. It was the day when the officers of our office came together with their family members to celebrate and express their happiness at the end-of-year gathering for 2025.
We organized this event at MRD Beach Hotel, located at Alasthota, Uppuvelli, Trincomalee.
The hotel manager and staff welcomed us warmly and treated us with great care and hospitality. The food we enjoyed today, especially the chicken biryani, was extremely delicious. In addition, the swimming pool was very beautiful and well maintained. The care and attention shown by the staff were beyond our expectations.
The restaurant was spacious and arranged in a very professional manner, providing all the necessary facilities. Overall, MRD Beach Hotel is a well-equipped hotel with excellent services.

MRD Beach Hotel 5 minutes to Uppuveli Beach and 10 minutes to restaurants
We stayed at MRD Beach Hotel for a few nights and overall had a good experience. The location is convenient, about a 5-minute walk to the beach, with several restaurants nearby. We enjoyed dining at Thaya Sea Food Restaurant, which was within walking distance, and there are shops and services close by as well.
The staff at the front desk and throughout the hotel were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Our bags were carried to our room upon arrival, which was appreciated after a long day of travel.
Our room was clean and comfortable, although it was a bit tight for four adults. The beds were comfortable and the room served its purpose well as a base for exploring the area.
Breakfast was included and consisted of fresh fruit, coffee, an omelet sandwich, and bottled water. Everything was fresh and enjoyable. There was some confusion regarding what was included in our booking, as our reservation mentioned all-inclusive but breakfast was the only meal provided. Communication was occasionally challenging, but the staff always tried their best to assist.
The Wi-Fi worked, although we did not receive the access codes until the following day, and there were separate networks for the restaurant and guest rooms. The room network was sometimes difficult to connect to.
A few small details could be improved. Our room initially had only two towels despite four guests being registered, and additional supplies such as toilet paper required follow-up requests. However, these were minor issues and did not significantly affect our stay.
We also found local services to be convenient, including laundry service charged by weight, which was completed efficiently.
Overall, MRD Beach Hotel offers good value in a great location with kind staff and easy access to the beach and nearby restaurants. While there were a few communication and housekeeping details that could be improved, we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning.

Very disappointing, absolutely NOT recommended.
Upon arrival we found a totally uncleaned accommodation. There was no kind of welcome or kindness, we were not even greeted. First of all, no one was present in reception and when we arrived it was only ‘your rooms are ready’
The pool was downright filthy, with both live and dead insects in it, and apparently a thick layer of chlorine in the pool according to the staff because there was a party the previous evening.
In the room itself, the level of hygiene was far below par: urine stains from previous guests were still CLEARLY visible on the toilet seat and in the toilet, there was mould in the bathroom, hair in the shower drain, used towels were still there and there were stains on the bed linen.
Not to mention there was a dirty towel in front of the door to stop insects???
It felt unsafe and unpleasant to stay here. Although we had originally booked 5 nights, we left immediately..
Don't be fooled by the positive reviews on Booking, our experience was truly terrible. This stay is absolutely not recommended!!!

Il.miglio.hotel del.ns tour
We stayed in these days of August , we are a group of 10 people we occupied 3 rooms .
The hotel.very nice clean and with every comfort, beautiful pool open until 22.
Breakfast with sweet al.chocolate x the boys and very good traditional food, good food and fast Service.
There is also the possibility of del.servizio laundry and x.noi returning from a 10 day tour was really helpful!!
A few steps from the sea, beach with free umbrellas just arrive and occupy the umbrella al.mattino with hotel towels and consume in the adjacent bar restaurant.
Equipped beach and top fish restaurants.
You will find several dogs around but they are not aggressive and every now and then you will witness the passage of some cows on the beach
Don't be frightened, like us , by a couple of bad reviews , the reality is that this hotel, after seeing many in Sri Lanka is one of the best.

Magnificent place
We took a tour of Sri Lanka, doing the last 5 days in this hotel. It is definitely the best we found, clean and well organized, it is in a strategic position: near the beach organized with umbrellas and restaurants, and close to a more inland area with restaurants and shops and supermarkets, the pool is fantastic and well maintained, great for a little relaxation if you do not want to stay at the beach or to cool off the night before returning to your room. The staff is friendly and well organized, good breakfast with fresh fruit every day and whatever else you want, the manager is a great person always ready to help you whether to call a tuk tuk or to book a restaurant or give you advice on where to go, and last but not least they have a great and fast Laundry Service, they gave us how many towels they asked for without problems, and redone the room every time we asked.
We had a great time, if we ever come back to Tricomalee we will definitely come back here.
