The hotel is in a good location and has recently been refurbished, but I’d question its four-star rating. The refurbishment feels cosmetic rather than considered, with a random mix of furniture and no clear design identity.
The room was spacious and clean, but the mattress felt as though it overhung the bed base, making it uncomfortable. The air conditioning was restricted to 22°C, which wasn’t ideal in Valencia.
The bathroom was functional, but the shower had poor water pressure and the screen didn’t stop water spilling onto the floor. The all-in-one shampoo and conditioner was bad and felt no different to the hand wash.
Breakfast was average and not worth the extra cost. The hot food sat in heated trays, giving it a canteen feel. The coffee was good, and so was the orange juice, although in Valencia I’d expect nothing less.
The Wi-Fi was disappointing. After entering a PIN, plus my name, email address and age, I expected a reliable connection, but it was slow and inconsistent.
Overall, the hotel feels like it’s ticking four-star boxes rather than delivering a four-star experience. A cheap kettle (without milk), a tiny gym with a sauna squeezed in and other token extras don’t make up for the lack of attention to detail. It’s a decent stay, but ultimately feels more like a three-star hotel with a fresh coat of paint.

Modern, clean, great location

Modern, clean hotel with friendly staff and a great location being only a 10min walk away from centre.
Did not have the breakfast so cannot comment on this.
Free water refill from a cold machine on level 1.
Rooms were spacious and had toiletries supplied.

Hospitality Needs Significant Improvement

We recently stayed at Hotel Dimar, in Valencia Spain, and while the location is excellent, the room is small, service and overall guest experience was poor.
Our first impression was disappointing. Upon arrival, the receptionist, Lidia, was not at the desk, which is understandable as these things happen. However, when she eventually arrived, she simply said “Hola” without making any eye contact, nor smiling, or offering any form of welcome. It genuinely felt as though we were inconveniencing her rather than being welcomed as guests.
Our room had a faulty rain shower head that did not work. We were initially told they would try to fix it, and if they couldn’t, we would be moved to another room. Since this was an inconvenience on our holiday, I politely asked whether an upgrade would be possible. I was told the hotel was fully booked. Fair enough. I then asked whether a discount could be considered due to the inconvenience, but was told no, only a room move if necessary. When I pointed out that moving rooms would be for the hotel’s convenience as much as ours, the response suddenly changed to, “No problem, we’ll fix it tomorrow.”
The following afternoon, after returning from sightseeing looking forward to freshening up, we found the maintenance worker still repairing the shower. Instead of relaxing, we had to wait while the work was completed. To make matters worse, he was standing on one of the bathroom’s chairs to reach the shower and had placed one of our towels on the chair before stepping on it. I found this unhygienic and quite unacceptable.
Housekeeping was equally disappointing. The rubbish left on the table had not been removed, and the table itself had not been wiped down. When I mentioned this to the guy who came to fix the shower, he explained that “the cleaners don’t take it because guests get mad when we do.” That explanation made little sense. It was obviously rubbish, and the room bin was far too small to accommodate it.
There were several other surprising moments during our stay. We requested a pair of slippers and were informed there would be a €5 charge. While hotels are free to charge for extras, it felt rather petty for a hotel of this standard.
Later that evening, I called reception to ask for an ice pack. Instead of offering assistance, I was told I had to collect it myself from the restaurant. Again, this was unexpected. At this point, it genuinely began to feel like a self-service hotel rather than one focused on hospitality.
Overall, the issue wasn’t simply the faulty shower. Things can go wrong in any hotel. What matters is how they’re handled. Unfortunately, the lack of warmth, poor communication, inconsistent service, and limited willingness to inconvenience themselves for the benefit of their guests made this a disappointing experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as the hotel has potential, but the level of hospitality needs significant improvement.
Unfortunately, we will not recommend this hotel at all.

Dear Guest,
We are sorry that your stay did not go as you had hoped.
However, we would like to clarify that we did our best to provide you with an on-site solution. Our team does its utmost to guarantee the quality of our facilities, but we are not immune to technical issues.
We offered you alternative accommodation in a room of the same category as your reservation as soon as possible, but you refused. You requested a free upgrade, which we refused, given that we could offer you alternative accommodation and had done everything we could to resolve the situation. This refusal seems to have frustrated you enough to launch a defamation campaign. We cannot accept your allegations, especially those directed at our team. As evidenced by the numerous comments on our various platforms, our teams strive to provide quality service to our guests. However, we do not respond positively to blackmail. Therefore, we prefer to cease all communication with you.
Regards,
General Manager Hotel Dimar

Fine stay with very small minus.

The stay at Hotel Dinar was very nice. Reception friendly and helpful. Room neat and clean and a very nice bed. We had asked for a bath. Due to an incorrect assembly of the bathtub, we unfortunately could not use this. On one side a big button and on the other side the tap so you couldn't sit in it. Bathroom otherwise very neat. Air conditioning worked perfectly. The breakfast is very good. The location of the hotel is very convenient. We had a very good time.

Beste Edith,
