Friendly base for exploring Malaga

Just spent a week in room 7 with balcony. I chose it based on previous reviews and wasn't disappointed. Lara is indeed very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, would perhaps be a bit of a squeeze with two people but fine for me. I always felt perfectly safe walking around the area at night. Lots of great bars and restaurants just down the road in Plaza Merced with its beautiful jacaranda trees. Only a few more minutes' right into the centre. It's true it can be a little bit noisy but that wasn't a big problem. I thoroughly recommend it for a good value stay.

Very Basic

Booked Pension Bruselas based upon the positive reviews. Let me start by saying Lara is one of the sweetest people, the property was very clean, and within easy walking distance of town. Those are the positives. Negatives: We got virtually no sleep here. The rooms are *basic* with nothing soft to deaden the noise, and let me tell you, it is LOUD. You hear everything. For a “residential” neighborhood, there are people walking the streets, making noise at all hours. There are streetlights that point directly into some rooms, so it is never dark inside. There were many comments about not feeling unsafe... Malaga seems to be a town in transition and this neighborhood is no exception. There are many places being rehabbed, many others need to be. While I didn’t feel unsafe, I also didn’t feel comfortable. Finally, unless you get a deal, I’d say the accommodations are budget, but the price was not. I feel bad for saying that, but it’s true.

Great location

The pension is located in very beautiful part of Malaga, with lots of interesting graffiti and street art around., at few hundred meters from Merced square. We met only one staff member, Lara, and she was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean.

Okay

We stayed at Pension Bruselas for two nights at the end of our trip, before flying back home. The hostal is located in a small side street a short walk from the city centre. It's nothing special, but if you only want to sleep there and spend the rest of the time in the city, then it's quite alright. The rooms were small, but clean. The bathroom was fine, although one of our towels was a bit smelly. The couple, who's operating the hostal is nice and helpful. They live right next door and you can always ring the door bell, if you need something. Unfortunately the taxi they ordered for our airport transfer didn't show up, so we had to go find our own early in the morning, which was a bit of a let-down.

11 nights stay Christmas and New Year's period

I stayed 11 nights in room 7. It was clean and I had all that I needed : free wifi, bed, shower. During the stay Lara called me on the phone to inform if everything was ok. I can recommend this place because of its location, the clean room, the quality of the free wifi and the friendly hostess Lara.
