This plain hostel suits minimalists. Well Iocated on a quiet side street, there is street noise from revelers. Friendly, helpful staff, but missing things like hot water in kitchen to wash dishes, hotter water for showers. Kitchen has only microwave for cooking. Everything seems budgeted—no soaps, low lighting. No activities for hostelers. Good Wi-Fi. Plain.

The room had quite poor insulation so it was cold.

AVOID THIS HOSTEL, HYSTERICAL RECEPTIONIST

They cut off the hot water from 9-11 in the morning. You have to put the sheets on yourself, I got a high bunk, I really have to take care of this?
If you want to sleep forget, it is in the middle of a party area and until 3 in the morning noise, people screaming etc. and then add the trash truck passing at 5am. Anyway, it's not even good for sleep.
The kitchen has nothing, no cutlery to eat, just a microwave and ready.
Cleaning goes some way and showers suck getting inside. All very crappy.
Reading another comment I see that I am not the first one that happens to him. I stopped for a moment at the hostel to leave some things in my locker and my friends went upstairs with me to the hall. I understand that each hotel has its own rules and people who were not staying there were not allowed to enter. Anyway, it wasn't indicated anywhere and in the emails. Anyway, I don’t think it’s unusual, I’ve travelled a lot and going upstairs to the hostel hall for a moment is no crime, although I insist that every hotel has its rules and I respect them. Now, the reception girl threatening to kick me out of the hotel for breaking the rules (which I was never informed email/chat and when checking in) and speaking in very bad ways I see very little polite on her part. If you'd told me about it in an informative way, look at the apology, visitors are not accepted, ready, I tell my friends and they come down. She became hysterical all by herself, when speaking in a civilized way she would have been resolved, but where there is none don't look. In the end we all pay just for sinners ;)
Now, the boy who attended me in the morning was quite the opposite, nice and close!!! More people like that, please.

Wrong in so many ways...

I'm not going to bother with every shortcoming, but here are a few:
1. Loud. Inside and from the street. The cheap plastic floor covering that looks like it was installed by Stevie Wonder is loud.
2. The young woman who cleans the rooms unlocked our door and entered. No knock. I was in a two-bed room so it's not like she was entering a big dormitory.
3. Desk personnel were rude and unprofessional.
4. Breakfast was cheap loaves of sandwich bread with butter, maybe some peanut butter or jelly. If you can afford to stay in Madrid you will want to pay a few euro for a real breakfast.
You get the point. I have traveled to a lot of places. I don't require luxury. I do require civility and competence. This place falls short in every respect. It is the worst place I have stayed in all of my travels.

Good location, but not much of a hostel feel. Breakfast was bread and jam, no meats/cheese. Very few washrooms/toilets. oor,
