More about Cotillo Lagos
Cotillo Lagos
Cotillo Lagos has a quiet, beautiful setting on the island of Fuerteventura, right next to Los Lagos Beach. Its studios all come with a private terrace or balcony. It is a short walk from the Cotillo Lagos to the charming fishing town of El Cotillo.

Pefectly adequate for the price we paid. If we'd wanted the Sheraton we would have paid for
There are around 30 apartments in the complex, whose best asset by a mile is access to the beach. As well as being able to see the beach and the sea from the terrace (upper level properties have a balcony), we were literally about 20 steps from the gate which gave direct access to a beautiful beach, with a shallow drop into the sea (which was surprisingly cold for this time of year in the Canaries, so got paddled in but that was it! Some hardier souls swam in it but I opted out of that!)
2 minor complaints;
1/ Because the floors are tiled, noise carries through the apartments, particularly as we had a family above with 2 young children, who could be heard running around from quite early each morning. If you are a light sleeper you should probably request a second floor property)
2/ Several times we ran out of hot water when showering. We suspected that the water is solar heated in a tank on the roof, and there were times when it would suddenly run cold, even after just a few minutes showering. If you are into long showers, beware of this!
Otherwise, I liked it. El Cotillo as a resort is small and is beginning to be developed. It's a bit of a drag over the mountains from the airport (we hired a car as always, it took about 45 minutes in the dark, the roads are generally pretty good but are unlit all the way over once you get off the motorway and the Puerto del Rosario ring road), but the road surfaces are excellent throughout. There are plenty of decent restaurants, and we worked our way through a number of these through the week, and were never disappointed. Would I recommend El Cotillo and Cotillo Lagos? Yes. Would I stay there again? Probably not, Caleta de Fuste is much more conveniently located, as it's much more central. Would I visit El Cotillo again? Almost certainly.
All in all, a very enjoyable week. Just beware the long queues when back at the airport due to the new EES system which doesn't seem to be working very well!

Avoid, avoid , avoid at all costs
I could go on about it but I’ll leave you here the last. After complaining for two days in a row about hot water as we were trying to have a decent shower after laying in the sun all day we were told the second day that we only get 10L of hot water per day so if you anything like me that you need your 1-2 showers at day there is not chance of getting the second one for sure.
I definitely recommend you not to book these “apartments “ as they are a ripoff

Beside the beach; several minutes' walk from the village.
The rooms are a bit dated, though this didn't bother me at all. There's a modern telly, small hob, microwave oven; bring a dish brush or cloth (I bought a cheap one from the local Chinese bargain store in the village). There's no toaster, so I used the frying-pan instead for "toasting." There's a good little Hiperdino supermarket about five minutes' walk away, which has almost everything you'd need.
My bathroom had no basin plug, though I have one of those all-purpose travel plugs which works a treat.
There's usually abundant hot water; sometimes it becomes a mere trickle with no pressure, though this doesn't last for long.
The chambermaid service is good, about every other day.
Because my room was a studio, my bed was not far from the noisy fridge.
Apart from that I was quite content being there for a month.
NB: my room had no wifi reception, so I went frequently to Reception (or on a bench outside) to watch BBC & ITV. Fortunately I have 4G capability, so I used that mainly for emails, texts, etc in my room.
There are two lovely cats here, one white and the other some other breed. They endear themselves to guests.
Top tip: my favourite restaurant was La Ballena, though there's a good selection of places to eat to suit all pockets and most tastes. Azzurro is good, too.
Rating: between 3 and 4.

Easy ...
Unfortunately in the studios there are only single beds.
We did not appreciate the lack of help regarding our need to have more sheets on our beds.
Wi-Fi is extremely slow, therefore do not bring your laptop with you.
The sera is safe, there is always a parking spot and great restaurants as “Pizzeria Marameo” and “La Vaca Azul” are 5 minutes away by foot. Supermarket is also very close, as well as “smoothie bar” to get your breakfast snd “shock wave” to get your surf and windsurf classes.
We might come back if the price would slightly decrease.
