A lovely property
This is a lovely property just 5 minutes outside of Getaria.
Free parking. Friendly & helpful check in.
They have a lift.
Lovely room (Igeldo) with wonderful, sweeping views to the sea. Spotlessly clean. Great shower. We found the mattress rather firm. No coffee machine.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Everything you could want.
There is a very nice pool area for the summer season.
I would recommend this hotel, we enjoyed our stay but I did think it was rather expensive considering there is no restaurant and only a sparcely stocked honesty bar.

We recently spent 7 unforgettable days at Hotel Iturregi with two other couples, and it exceeded every expectation. Tucked into the hills above Getaria, this 8-room boutique hotel is a true hidden gem—offering peaceful luxury, impeccable service, and panoramic views that stretch down to the iconic Getaria lighthouse and fishing village.
From the moment we arrived (greeted warmly at the end of the driveway, as they were expecting us), we felt genuinely welcomed. The staff are exceptional—attentive, professional, and warm. A special thank you to Xabier, whose thoughtful support and local guidance added so much to our experience. His kindness and intuition made us feel more like house guests than hotel clients.
Breakfast each morning was a personalized delight. Whether served in the dining room or out on the patio with its sweeping views, everything was perfectly tailored—our preferences remembered as we sat down.
The grounds are magical—surrounded by vineyards, the entire property exudes calm and quiet elegance. The pool is a true highlight, hidden in a lush, garden-like setting that feels like a private oasis. It's the perfect place to unwind after exploring the region.
Housekeeping was meticulous, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel is one of relaxed refinement. The attention to detail, from fresh flowers to quiet, thoughtful service, is truly world-class.
The location is ideal for day trips throughout the Basque Coast. We enjoyed:
- Incredible pintxos and shopping in San Sebastián’s Old Town
- Outstanding seafood and fine dining in Getaria
- The colorful charm of Hondarribia (on the border with France)
- A picturesque beach in Zarautz, surrounded by surfers and families along the boardwalk

Excellent hotel
Excellent hotel among vineyards, decorated with very good taste, successfully combining the classic of the farmhouse with modern touches. Also excellent breakfast. It's a shame it didn't have a restaurant given how far it is from Getaria.

A great hotel in a great town. Excellent base in the Basque region.
This hotel is graciously designed in a very personalized way, nothing cookie-cutter about it. It is beautifully sited above the charming town of Getaria with views out to the sea beyond. The grounds are expansive and landscaped with interesting plants and flowers. The common rooms are very welcoming with plush seating, warm lighting, and a well-stocked honor bar. Our bedroom and bathroom were both extremely comfortable and good sized. It was slightly drizzly when we were there and we found the hotel to be a warm and cozy oasis but I think it would be even more beautiful on a sunny day. Service was discreet but efficient. We felt very well taken care of. Getaria itself was a great discovery for us. We loved the way the sea crashes in, the great restaurants, especially Elkano, and the interesting history, including the Balenciaga Museum.

Beautiful property
We stayed for two nights in July. First impressions of the hotel were stunning. It is accessed via a secure gate and a beautiful driveway leads you to the front of the hotel, from which there is an amazing view across the vineyards to the sea. We received a friendly greeting and were shown around the ground floor area before being shown to our room. Whilst one of the most basic rooms the hotel offered, it was still very luxurious and met our needs very well. Breakfast on the terrace was amazing and we were well looked after again by the staff, who spoke perfect English. We used the pool during our stay and that was a welcome relief from the heat.
My only gripe was that a family of two adults and three children were also staying during this time. This detracted somewhat from the peace and quiet that most people experience at this hotel, since they could not help but be noisy around the pool and at breakfast. I wonder whether the hotel has considered welcoming adults only, as this would provide the assurance to guests that they would have a peaceful stay.
Nevertheless, we did thoroughly enjoy our stay at Hotel Iturregi and would definitely love to return some day soon.
