Helpful hotel for hungry hikers!

6 days at the Santa Barbara passed really quickly thanks to the helpful staff, comfortable well-appointed room, the abundant delicious food and the readily accessible hiking.
The modern hotel is discreetly integrated into the stone buildings of the mining village. There is an adjacent café/store, which is used for breakfast and all day dining, and a ‘Canteen’ just up the hill used mainly by tour groups for the mine. We had lunch 4 times up at the ‘Canteen’, which was an amazing experience, not only from the amount of excellent dishes, the noise & good humour of all the groups of diners, but from the speedy efficiency of the staff. It was a truly amazing experience!
Breakfast in the snack bar was a choice of toast, pastries or cold meats accompanied by a good selection of fresh fruit from the counter. After the previous day’s lunchtime extravagance were grateful for something lighter. We also ate there two evenings and were more than satisfied with omelettes, salads, butifarras etc.
There are some nice hikes & pleasant evening strolls with scenic mountain views right out of the front door. The Hotel is just below the Serrat de Sant Joan, and thankfully the receptionist/manager was a great help in pointing us to hiking trails up the cliffs as well as to other ones in the area.
We cannot thank the staff enough, as they were always amiable & helpful in spite of frequently tackling two or more roles .
We will be back!

Lie

Not accesible. It says it has accesible rooms for wheelchair and they don't have lift so is not accessible at all. Dice que es accesible para silla de ruedas pero no tiene ascensor así que tienen publicidad engañosa.

A little remote but a wonderful find

The hotel is at the end of a winding road climbing high off the main highway. We stopped at various points on the road for photos as the views were wonderful. We really wondered whether there could possibly be a hotel up here, but when we arrived what a find! The hotel is a converted industrial building belonging to the coal mine which closed some years ago. A great deal of effort has gone into the conversion and the hotel is comfortable and clean with spacious attractively, decorated bedrooms and attractively appointed en-suite bathrooms. We had a wonderful tapas dinner with local wine at the hotel - possibly the most authentic and interesting meal of our whole trip. We were astonished at the good value. We walked around the area and read about the history of the mine and walked up to the little church. The area has a fascinating history. Breakfast the next morning was included and again fabulous. The people who run the hotel and restaurant are friendly and helpful. This hotel is a real find and provided one of the great highlights of our trip.

A real gem - a unique experience a little off the beaten track.

The austere exterior you see as you come into the village square having negotiated a 5km windy road up from the main route belies the high quality bedrooms and characterful bar and local restaurant.
The hotel is in a converted industrial building and the conversion has been imagnatively done in about 2001 I think. Fittings and decor are of a high standard and our spacious bedroom had a walk-in shower and good supply of quality hospitality items. Air conditioning was effective and quiet.Beds comfortable - we had 3 separate beds as the double rooms were taken.

Great and unexpected find

We stayed a night expecting not too much in all honesty. How wrong we were. Really nice room with an excellent bathroom. Modern and very nicely decorated. But the real value was in the couple who run it. They also run the bar just along from the hotel and were the friendliest nicest people you could meet. The food in the bar was tasty and unbelievably good value. The restaurant that some people mention is up behind the hotel and wasn't open when we were there. The real fun was in the crowds however who were there for a major national motorcycle trials event the next day. We expected a quiet stay with no one around and instead found ourselves in the middle of a friendly, vibrant event run in very Spanish style - noisy, friendly, smiley and welcoming. A real hit for us on our holiday.
