A jewel in Praslin for independently-minded travelers
A truly remarkable mini hotel / guesthouse / holiday apartment rental. We spent our first three nights in the Seychelles at this delightful spot just across the road from Grande Anse Beach (with a beach bar, to boot!). Hosts Stephan and Maggie were gracious and welcoming as if we were guests in their own home, but with our own privacy. A winning combination. We pre-arranged a transfer from the jetty through our hosts, and the sign with our names on it was a welcome sight after 41 hours of travel to get there.
We enjoyed delicious flutes of tropical juice as we completed the arrival formalities before being shown to our apartment with kitchenette, living room, bedroom, bath, and a balcony. The kitchenette was perfect for cooking meals after a long day in the ocean...complete with refrigerator, cooktop, microwave, electric tea kettle, crock pot, sink, plenty of pots and pans, along with kitchen towels and all the dishes and glassware one would need, and mugs for hot drinks along with coffee, tea, sugar, salt, and pepper.
Internet was great and worked best in the room/apartment, which was pleasantly furnished with a small dining table, sofa, two chairs, an additional set of table and chairs on the balcony, a dresser, vanity, and comfy bed made for cozy sleeping. Good hot water and water pressure in the shower. AC only in the bedroom but once going it kept the room very cool.
Close to Praslin Airport (2 min drive), mini grocery stores (1-2 min walk), Anse Georgette (5 min drive, plus 15 min walk), and across or adjacent to restaurants (Lobster Bay and Le Paradisier, both just a minute on foot). We highly recommend the frozen stuffed parathas at the Pick and Pack grocery--just warm them up in the frying pan and enjoy!
Stephan and Maggie were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Our stay fell on New Year's Eve and the hosts held an absolutely fabulous dinner of crab, biriyani with sausage, fresh grilled fish, salad, lo mein noodles, and more...all for the guests and friends of the family. It was a delightful gathering where guests met each other and shared wine and drinks and travel tips. So fun.
The property also provides guests with beach towels to be used at the nearby beach or taken on excursions. There is also a small pool on property with chaise longues in the sunshine, a hammock, and shaded tables to read in the breeze. (Note: there are plans for a small bar on property but they do not have a license yet. That said, guests are welcome to purchase drinks at a nearby shop and keep them in the bar area's refrigerator.)
We were sad to leave and are already scheming a return visit. Thank you Stephan and Maggie!
