Colorful house, ideally located and very nice, perfect for a stay on Gorée Island

This house was very charming and colorful, and the owner was very caring when we arrived. We very much enjoyed the location on Gorée Island, very quiet after the tourists left with the last boats of the afternoon. We also liked being able to keep the room longer, our plane being planned for the night. The address is very easy to find thanks to the instructions of Oumar and the staff of Chez Thio restaurant which also belongs to him

We spent a wonderful week with Oumar Ly during our school trip with the Athénée de Ganshorenn in Brussels in January 2024. We were in Gorée to carry out work on slavery. A class of 10 secondary 4 students accompanied by two teachers and two facilitators. The house is splendid. The welcome 10/10, the attention 10/10, the responsiveness 10/10, the cleanliness 10/10, the kindness 20/10 ;-) We all thank him and his magnificent team. And the same for our delicious lunch and dinner meals at the Thio and Amiraute restaurants, well-kept restaurants in an idyllic setting. Thank you

Lovely accommodation

I spent only one night in this charming old house, but I can tell you it was quiet and restful. There is no air conditioning, but I was comfortable enough with a fan located near the foot of the bed. A second fan, on the ceiling, made too much noise to leave on during the night. The bed was equipped with mosquito netting. My private bathroom was very basic but had plenty of hot water. The enclosed courtyard inside the entrance door to the house is gorgeous and comfortable and a great place to relax or have breakfast. Overall, it's a lovely place and a nice difference from the more modern but less interesting accommodations on the mainland.

Nice island getaway

We wanted a quiet quaint place away from the crowds and this was it
It’s a small lodge, located off the beaten track
We chose the suite - Bedroom with study
It has old style architecture, filled with arts pieces, sculptures, nice sofas and lounge areas to sit, read or to chill
Thé breakfast was simple but sufficient
Juices, eggs, bread, fruits, coffee and tea
The guy managing the lodge was chatty, informative, helpful and quick.
Worth the weekend stay and a repeat visit

Huge apartment

Large apartment, clean, fans, mosquito nets, great breakfast however we didn’t have an WiFi or hot water...which wasn’t too much of a problem when the weather is very hot.
Great value for money stay. Would definitely recommend staying there.
