Great family weekend in a cosy place
We ve been there at the beginning of November for a longer weekend, with our kids also. We had the apartment at the top floor, which was a n attic of aprox 100m2. Apartment was clean and warm, it was a perfect weekend at the mountain. There are plenty places to visit at a walking distance. Vila is placed opposite of Palace Hotel, near the park. Right next to us was also a historic vila, Carola.
Also Sinaia is ofering many places to visit, one of the fanciest touristic resort from Prahova Valley.
For me this place made me remember the vacations here with my grandparents.
This is a place i would like to come back!

An old villa, newly furnished with three floors, each its own seperate unit, well kept, in the best place in town.

Looking for an incredible location to ski in Romania, look no further. This small town nestled in the Carpathian mountains has two separate lift companies in the same small town but each has its own chairlift system.
Vila Wendy (only one ‘l’ in Vila) is right in the town’s heart, next to a large park and within one and a half blocks from the city’s center. In the winter, the park boasts an ice rink, music, lights, and lots of winter/ Christmas decorations.
If you plan to stay:
● The Vila Wendy has 3 floors, each its own separate apartment unit. The two on the lower floors are slightly larger, but all three work well and are newly furnished.
● Be aware, they only can take cash payment or an IBAN bank transfer. Yet, when we arrived, the bank transfer had not gone through, and we had to extract the money in Romanian currency from a few ATMs. Each machine only gives out so much–some only 200 Lei per day. We found one in the city which handed out 2,000 lei. At three to one, that is about $600.00.
● Sinaia’s ski region is serviced by two different lift companies. Try both. Each has its own gondola to mid-station and a few lifts at the top. One can be walked to as it is in the center of town. The other can be reached by bus, but these do not run too often so a taxi, which is very cheap in dollars, is the best bet.
● There are ski rental facilities at the bottom. Some of the equipment is not the most modern, yet they are serviceable enough so you do not need to bring yours skis and poles. I would advise bringing your boots if you are not a standard shoe fit.
● Staff at Vila Wendy only speak Romanian, so we had to use hand signals, but we did get by as someone (not at the villa) could speak some English. No one is on staff during the evening or night, so ask for extra toilet paper or other items while they are they in the morning.
● The villa is well kept, they keep the snow clear of the steps and walkways, and it is a great place to spend a week with friends.
● Visit the Peles Castle, built by King Karl I for his wife. It is the first castle to have had electricity built in, has the first electrically retractable glass roof, has the first built in Vacuum system and is so beautiful both on the inside and the outside that missing it would be like going to Arizona and missing the Grand Canyon.
● Walk up the hill from the villa to the Monastery. What a history. This may even be the place where the Arc of Covenant lies buried. Who knows, but the tale of the knight finding refuge, the tale of the monks having to flee and bury the ‘treasure’, one that was left buried for so long all the monks were long dead and no one knows where it was hidden. While digging the foundations for the castle and the small town c/w a generating plant, two stone tables were found near the river banks with a writing that has never been translated. One a picture of those tablets remain as the tables mysteriously vanished.
● Buy the book on Sinaia. It is available locally in an English and German translation. Lots of photos and lots of folklore.
● Sinaia is one of the few towns in the word which had a Royal Train Station and another large train station for the common person. Sinaia became the winter playground for Romanian aristocracy once the castle was being built. Vila Wendy is next door to the Crown Prince’s villa and has a history of its own.

Wonderful place !
We booked the top apartment for just 1 night which has 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and 2 bathrooms, 1 being En suite. It was perfect, the location is great, right in the center, walking distance from the main road with the restaurants and next to the park, the place was so clean, had new furniture, it was just great. I totally recommend, we even said if we come back to Sinaia we will definitely book that one. Great value for money as well !

Wonderful place, very clean, center location
Vila Wendy is a very cozy place to stay. The apartaments have everything you need to feel at home and are very clean. It is located near the center of Sinaia, but you might miss it if not very careful since it is a hidden gem near an abandoned building. I only wish they would allow to light a fire in the fireplace.

Interesting Stay
When you first arrive, you can't see the Villa, it's hidden behind 2 really scary looking buildings. I googled the largest of the 2 buildings and it turns out that it has a really interesting past. The apartments themselves are nicely furnished and all 3 have very good wifi. The villa is located a short walk to both the town of Sinaia and Peles Castle. It's advertised as Ski-In, Ski-Out... Not sure how that works, it was either a bus or a 15 lei cab ride to the gondola.
I felt as though it was in a really sketchy area of town as there are a lot of empty buildings near it and the first night that we stayed there 2 of the women in our group were followed home. The front gate locks, but you don't need a key to open it.
Pros:
• Close to town, tourist attractions and ski hill
• Nicely furnished
• Good Wifi
Cons:
• Didn't really feel safe in that area of town
• Toilet seat kept falling off
• Shower heads kept falling off
• Manager speaks only Romanian. We had English, German and French speakers, nothing helped
• They only accept Cash or Money Transfer. It was a real pain to pay our bill.
