A good hotel near the center of Bucharest.

A good hotel, with many improvements compared to the past. The privilege room is good and well-equipped. Good breakfast, courteous staff. The furniture is a bit aged, but all in all, these are minor details.

We stayed 4 nights and it was a nice stay. The staff is super, the breakfast was good with both hot and cold dishes. You got enough to start the day. It was quiet as you can expect on a big city, we slept well. It is close to bus stop but metro was 10 min away. But we took mostly Uber anyway. Room is large and AC worked as expected, we had +36 all days outside. 12 min walk to old town.

Avoid at all costs!!

Arrival after midnight (the hotel had been informed about my late arrival in advance), and I immediately discovered a dirty towel in the room. I went back to reception to complain. When I returned to the room, I quickly realized why the towel was there.
There was a leaking pipe in the bathroom, and every time I used the sink, water flooded the floor. That dirty towel had clearly been left there to soak up the leak. The hotel was obviously aware of the problem but had done nothing to fix it. Since it was the last available room, I had nowhere else to go, so I stayed.
The next morning I filed a complaint, as nobody from the hotel considered it appropriate to approach me and apologize. At 9:00 a.m. there was apparently no manager on duty. An interesting way to run a hotel. I demanded a different room.
In the meantime, the fire alarm went off due to problems in the kitchen. So by then we had experienced both water and fire.
When I returned to my room, I noticed that the hotel toiletries had disappeared. It turned out that a housekeeper had entered the room, removed them, and moved them to my new room. Why didn't she simply take new ones from her housekeeping cart?
I then went out into the city, leaving a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. When I came back, it was obvious that someone had entered the room anyway.
As compensation, I received some bottled water, fruit, and a small bottle of wine. According to the manager (whom I finally spoke to the next day), that was supposed to resolve the matter. Looking through other reviews, it seems that complimentary water is their standard solution to guest complaints.
To sum up: the hotel's standard is unacceptable. Management is virtually nonexistent, and guest care is nothing more than an illusion.
It's a shame, because I had stayed there before and it wasn't bad at all. Now?
Avoid this hotel at all costs!

Terrible.......

From 05/01 to 05/04, we stayed at the Hotel Mercure Bucharest Unirii and found a hostile environment, poor reception, and they did not provide us with the shuttle to and from the airport....... and finally, they stole three polo shirts still in the bag and a white men's turtleneck..... the overall judgment is almost TERRIBLE..... better to avoid!

Dear Giovanni B,
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your stay at Mercure Bucharest Unirii.
I am sorry to hear about your experience with the reception and the lack of shuttle service, which should have been communicated to you.
We have a shuttle service and a transportation company that we work with but you need to book at least with one day in advance in order to confirm with them, if they have available car for that time.
Now, we also install one BLUE tablet application at Reception and the guests can order and pay the transfer to the airport, through the application directly.
Additionally, I regret to learn about the unfortunate incident regarding your belongings.
We double check at lost and found and with all the staff present in the hotel at that time but unfortunately, we could not found them.
Our policy is to clean the room, without the staff touching the guests' personal belongings.
Your concerns are important to us, and we will review them to improve our services and ensure a better experience for future guests.
Sincerely,
Brenda Mircea
