Calicoan Island

My sister and I went to visit Sulangan Church. And while passing by in this area, we were amaze how beautiful the place is. So, after visiting the church in Sulangan Island we decided to come to Calicoan Villa in Calicoan Island. We rented one of the cottage with the ocean view to keep our things and roam around. This place is really breathtaking. Ocean sounds, winds, and birds chirping is so calming. They have restaurant as well to enjoy food and drinks. If you know surfing then please enjoy as well. Rate is affordable, staff are friendly. They have more rooms to stay too.

Good location

Fantastic place to stay the owner David is very friendly. Good price rooms on The sea has restaurant and bar serving breakfast and dinner. Has 2 swimming pool and a function room and minibus Transport

Calicoan, Guiuan Eastern Samar Philippines

Peaceful and quiet place. Not crowded. Wonderful beach for surfers. Location facing Pacific Ocean. White sand beaches.
The place is situated at the Municipality of Guiuan Eastern Samar, Philippines
If coming from Manila or Cebu, take a domestic flight going to Tacloban City. From there, ride a van to Guiuan eastern Samar.

The only good place to stay in Guiuan.

We drove down from Tacloban last minute to stay at a beach resort somewhere and relax. After visiting ALL the other resorts in the area we almost gave up and drove back home. Our last stop was Calicoan Beach House and we were glad we stopped. Awesome beach, great surfing, two nice pools for the kiddos and good food. The San Miguel’s were the coldest I’ve ever had in the Philippines. We rented 3 AC rooms and they were totally adequate for crashing in after a hard day of playing in the water. Super friendly owners and staff. We will definitely go again and I’m bringing a surf board next time. Be sure and walk down the beach at low tide. Lots of hidden little beaches and pools. And definitely go visit Linao cave. Get the local kids to guide you and if you have a dive light you can swim to other chambers.Thats about the coolest thing I’ve ever did.

Ants, ants and more ants

Although the room we stayed for was wide enough for 2 kids and 2 adults, we slept very uncomfortably. One--the air conditioner was under powered for the floor area and two, there were red ants all over the room.
Our guess is that the rooms are not really well maintained because there were only four people to manage the entire resort including the restaurants.
While biding our time, the staff made us stay in concrete cottages just right outside our room but guess what, they had tiny ants that bit our children everywhere. We saw they were riding the cottage posts. So definitely a lot has to be done in keeping the place clean and free from ants.
The bathrooms also looked dated because perhaps it wasn't cleaned before they made us check in which by the way we did ourselves. No one helped us, they just handed us the key.
The second pool was also an issue because we saw an online advertisement about it but we were not allowed to use it because apparently, "it hasn't been blessed yet."
The view may be incomparable because it's the Pacific and the huge waves crash and the sky is blue but my my, this place needs to step up if it wants guests to come back.
