Exclusive neighbor to the castle

Had two good nights at Sommerro although check-in was quite slow but was upgraded to a nice and spacious deluxe room. Breakfast is very good with great and tasteful selection of everything. The hotel is perfectly located next door to the castle and National Theatre station with direct trains to the airport.

Wonderful hotel

We were so happy we chose the Sommerro. The room was large, perfectly appointed and extremely clean. The breakfast was full of high quality ingredients and had so many wonderful options to choose from. Vilde at the front desk was lovely and so kind. Perfect stay in Oslo.

Our stay at Sommerro

We stayed at Sommerro and absolutely loved our experience. The hotel is beautiful, and our room was elegant, comfortable, and impeccably maintained thanks to the excellent housekeeping service.
The breakfast was outstanding. As soon as we were seated, we were offered coffee or tea, which arrived within seconds. There was a wide variety of high-quality options to choose from, and the breakfast room itself was lovely—especially the beautiful red chairs, which added so much character to the space.
We also visited the rooftop pool, which was a wonderful place to relax. It was perfect for sunbathing, enjoying the sauna, and unwinding in the pool. After 1 p.m., you can order refreshments. The menu mainly consists of drinks, with a few light snacks such as bags of chips rather than full meals.
One evening, we had dinner at Ekspedisjonshallen, and both the food and the service were excellent. In fact, the staff throughout the hotel truly made us feel welcome. Everyone was warm, attentive, and professional, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
We also grabbed a few sandwiches to go from Café Lucy, and they were delicious. We highly recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a quick bite.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely return. We highly recommend Sommerro to anyone visiting Oslo.

Exceptional stay

Beautiful building with retro art deco vibe. Rooms were large, beds comfortable. We had 2 adjoining rooms with a common vestibule which I had never encountered in any hotel before. It was a welcome surprise. The location was outstanding, right across from a tram stop which made it easy to access all of Oslo’s sights. The indoor pool was right out of a 1930’s movie. Overall an amazing experience.

Beautiful hotel, great food, excellent location

We loved our stay in this hotel. Beautiful inside, and excellent service. A special highlight was the meal we had at Izakaya at the top of the hotel, which was amazing. We also loved the extensive breakfast buffet every morning in a beautiful Art Deco large hall, which had a plethora of meats, cheeses, fruit smoothies, yogurts, chocolate bark, cereals, fruit, and then also a hot meal station where you could order oatmeal, waffles with whipped cream and berries, smoked salmon Benedict, scrambled egg and smoked salmon or bacon, and a couple other options.
We had an interesting room setup where we had two rooms that didn’t adjoin but opened into a tiny common foyer, where we could leave our shoes and some bags, and prop open both doors at night so our kids could come in when they needed. We had a regular hotel room with a queen bed and bathroom for the grown ups, and a second room for the kids which consisted of two beds in recessed areas with drapes for each, that they treated as two forts, along with a bathroom.
The hotel is right across from a tram and bus station, so it is incredibly convenient as we ended up using the bus and tram to go everywhere.
But back to the izakaya meal, they had great drinks and we devoured their delicious fresh sushi, sashimi, rolls, mussels (probably the largest plate of mussels I’ve seen), hamachi crudo, etc. the kids loved the sliders, chicken karaage and desserts.
Highly recommmend this hotel for a stay in Oslo!
