Authentic Northern Norway
I was lucky enough to sign up for the overnight snowmobiling experience with Ole at Solbakken Camping while in Northern Norway.
Ole has lived his whole life in the area and loves the mountains and snowmobiling, this really adds to the experience.
After the introductory snowmobile we headed off for a thrilling ride to the top of the mountain. The views were amazing - pristine snow and nobody in sight.
Once back at the campsite Fred (Ole's right hand man) made some hotdogs on the grill and we sat around the stove in the cosy cabin. We also had coffee/hot chocolate, dates and biscuits. There was no rushing, we just relaxed and chatted. Both Ole and Fred are friendly, relaxed and humerous. Nothing is too much trouble. Fred dug me and my snowmobile out of the snow more than once and he was still smiling
Later that evening we headed up the mountain for a second snowmobile ride, it was so special heading out as the northern lights swirled above. Once at the top of the mountain Ole served coffee from a flask, which was very welcome in the coldness of the arctic night. We watched the northern lights sipping coffee, it was so peaceful. The lights, the stars and the mountains all around.
Earlier, Fred had prepared the sauna and hot tub for me, so when I returned from snowmobiling I headed down to the area. Alternating the sauna, cold snow rub downs and the hot tub while the northern lights glowed above can't really be put into words but it was a great way to end the highlight of my trip. I slept really well in my cabin and the shower was really good the next morning.
The next day Ole drove me to Polar Park, collected me a few hours later and brought me to the bus stop where he waited until my bus came. That's service for you!
The whole experience was great value. It was on a par with other snowmobile trips, cost wise but I could avail of transport and other activities easily.
As is apparent, Ole is very customer- focused, He helped me organise which buses to take, collecting and dropping me off where needed, he facilitated my trip to Polar Park. He answered all email queries promptly before my trip.
If you want an extra special experience in a special place come to Solbakken.

AMAZING Snow mobile adventure
We didn’t have the pleasure of staying in this idyllic place but we did do the ski mobile experience with our teenage kids. We all had a fab time! Fred, our guide, picked us up from our hotel in Narvik and drove us through the beautiful Norwegian scenery full of natural ice sculptures, snowy mountains and occasional reindeer. Fred was full of interesting facts. When we got to Solbakken, we were provided with snow suits and cosy boots before being led on a spectacular trek up the mountain on the snow mobiles. It was exhilarating, idyllic and a little terrifying! Adults and teens all LOVED it. Fred was fab. Would definitely recommend this experience. We hope to come back to stay next time.

All right for one night!
Right inside! Cozy space with nice kitchen and nice toilets. Offers sauna and spa experiences.
But a little little tailored for children - and very very hard beds. No one in the company slept well with such tough mattresses.

Cosy cabin with what you need of equipment. Toilet and shower as well as experience facilities. I have never slept as well as I did here ❤️ We were going to visit Polar Park, so then this stay was perfect for us. Returns on a later occasion
