AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE

A perfect location for this hotel: near the outlet, in a small village. a perfect welcome! After 7 hours of shopping we enjoyed the aperitif on the terrace and dinner despite a late schedule. The welcome is really warm in this hotel. We were 3 adults and the room we had was a good size, the bathroom clean and functional. A good adress near Roermond.

Prior permission for support dog, but still sent away on arrival

We cannot give a review about the room or the stay itself, because we ultimately could not stay there overnight. We were turned away on arrival at 6 pm because of our official support dog.
We had discussed this very clearly by telephone beforehand: we travel with a support dog, not a guide dog. It was then indicated that this was not a problem. On arrival, however, another colleague found that only guide dogs are welcome. The person who decided on this was not even present himself, but refused us by telephone, without having seen us or the official documents.
The staff member at the desk who was supposed to deliver this bad news was very friendly and tried to think along. He directed us to the Boshotel, a little further, where we were ultimately very welcome and had a very nice stay.
But the way this has gone at Hotel Abij has caused me a lot of stress. A service dog or support dog has someone for a reason. To then stand without a room after a long drive, at six o’clock in the evening, while you have checked this beforehand, is really not acceptable to me.
My advice to anyone travelling with a service dog or support dog: always ask for a written confirmation at this hotel in advance. One employee says it's not a problem, the other refuses.
Or just don't go to this hotel.

Food in the Abbey

Good food in restaurant de Abdij in Horn. Nice place with terrace. Very quiet, also because it was on Monday night out of season probably.
Friendly service and friendly staff. One of us had the choice menu, good and affordable food. Casual atmosphere and simple and good food!

Price quality questionable given the size of the room

I spent the night here while walking the Pieterpad towards Swalmen. The main reason for me choosing this hotel was location and price. You have to see the price in relation to what you get.
Check-in fine, room very small but clean, breakfast more than adequate.
Considering the room, I think the 82 euros I had to pay for the single room was on the high side. I have had better accommodations with larger rooms for considerably less money.

Good Location

Warm welcome, big private parking area of the hotel. Clean room and bathroom. Simple or standard breakfast but more than enough. Good service and during the breakfast you could ask something else that was not served on the buffet ( if they had it ). The location is very good as a base when you want to explore Limburg. Had nice three nights stay.
