Mother & daughter first visit to Marrakesh

This was our first visit to Marrakesh & hopefully the first of many. Everyone at Riad Dar Benbrahim has been so welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable and all the staff, led by Naima, couldn’t do enough for us. Naima’s cooking is second-to-none. I advise taking g at least one home cooking evening meal on the roof terrace at the Riad. Naima also does cookery classes but we ran out of time on this visit (so we must come back).
Some highlights of our visit: breakfast in the roof terrace, evening on the roof terrace watching the sunset & listening to the call to prayer. Outside the Riad, which is centrally situated, we enjoyed a visit to Palace Bahia, coffee & lunch on the terrace of the Cafe Espices with its view of the snow covered mountains, wandering the souks, a day trip to the waterfalls & a visit to the Hammam. We managed to pack in so much to 4 days with the help of Naima, who organised some of the activities for us,

Great riad, terrific host.

Just had a lovely stay at this riad. It is very centrally located, just a few minutes walk from the main square, the bahia palace and the tombs. There are some great restaurants just 2 or 3 minutes away and lots of shops and cafes nearby. The riad is very clean, breakfast was very nice and is served on a lovely rooftop terrace. We had a lovely room, quite quirky and very traditional, with a good sized bathroom and a shower with plenty of hot water. People need to remember when booking a riad that they are not luxury hotels and they should have reasonable expectations. These are old buildings, they dont have lifts or shiny chrome fittings, they are traditional morrocan buildings with small windows, dim lighting and old fashioned decor. That is their charm. Morrocan hosts are warm and welcoming and are very hard working, and if our experience is anything to go by, some of the nicest people on earth. Osama (I hope i have his name correct) was kindness itself, nothing was too much trouble for him, anything we needed was attended to instantly. He worked incredibly hard to take care of us, he is a credit to this establishment.

Disappointment is an understatement

Excessively basic. Space at the toilet is very narrow, and the passage between the toilet and the sink has to be done sideways. There is also a lip to step into Shower area door doesn’t lock so floor gets all wet. Light bulb was missing in the bathroom.
No space to put luggages for two people. Towels old and raggy towel rack broken. Only one pillow.
Gentleman was helpful with luggages.
I would not reccomended at all. I don’t know about the food we didn’t eat there

Excellent location
