This is the 2nd stay for me at Hotel Mont Gueliz.
I am a solo female traveller, the area is a big yes for me and this hotel I have found to be really friendly.
The room is cleaned daily and if any issues they are quickly rectified.
Reception staff are friendly and polite.
Breakfast is great!
There is a plunge pool which does need attention due to broken tiles but it is a great relief on hot days to dip in.
It was seen on this trip that they are upgrading parts of the hotel. Sunbeds had new cushions which was great. The terraced seating had all new seating pads and cushions which I loved the colours and 100% better.
The shower by the pool needs replacing.
My room- This time I had one at the back of the hotel and I am a little quirky as I definitely prefer one at the front with it facing the boulevard traffic.
The air con worked fine.
Both trips I have never managed to get the tv's to work but that isnt a problem as I am not there enough to worry
Bathrooms are small!! Showers are tiny and they have leaked both times but my floor mat mops it up and i hang it to dry.
I love this little hotel and when I am back in Marrakech it will be on my list to rebook.
If you want posh and snazzy this isnt the place for you. This is a friendly, budget & head down place.

Very loud from the 6 way traffic outside the hotel. The doors for the room don’t close properly, the locks on the door are missing screws. The staff are very suspect, the older chap on reception looks really shifty a looks like he’s always plotting something. One of the nights someone tried to enters the room in the middle of the night, probably looking for wallets or something whilst I slept. Good job they didn’t enter because I would have gotten a free pass to try bob bucklands “chicken wing” on them. The breakfast is very meagre they provide you with a set breakfast. Waited over an hour for breakfast to be served and they were serving others before us. I wouldn’t stay again and I would definitely make females aware of this. This also has happened in other Morocco hotels so it’s something to be aware of. Very bad experience

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

MONT GUELIZ Hotel, one to AVOID at all costs definitely NOT a 4 star, I’d say unrated from my experience, very noisey traffic from 5 way junction throughout the night and got no sleep whatsoever, disgusting hotel, furniture being moved around till early hours, bedding never been changed from many previous guests, was unclean and a very bad odour, revolting small pool and the water has never been changed ever, 3 sun loungers old and rusty, rude staff barely spoke English, musty smell in hotel and in room, mosquitoes everywhere, door handles had missing screws and found it very difficult to open and close, hotel staff operating as thieves, as on 2 occasions around 11pm, we had someone trying to get into our room with a keycard luckily we locked our door whilst occupied otherwise the hotel employed thieves (staff) would have stolen whatever they could find, power went off on one of the occasion’s when the hotel thieves were trying to break into our room, breakfast very basic, you get what’s given and on 1 occasion we waited 50 minutes for the plate to arrive of 2 crumpets, 2 pastries, 2 pancakes. I have stayed in many hotels all over the world but Mont Gueliz Hotel has been one of the worst experiences I have ever experienced, VERY CREEPY STAFF, HOTEL VERY OLD AND DATED, I would never stay in this hotel even if I was offered a free reservation, take my advice from the most awful experience DO NOT BOOK AT ANY COST.

Plus points: Good location, rooftop pool, friendly staff.
Unfortunately my room got completely flooded on the second day and I had to move.
Other issues. Card keys were temperamental, no fridge in the original room, no net curtains, towels were taken but not replaced until I asked.
Rooms at front of hotel was very noisy from the street.
