Stay family room

Just a big thank you to Hamza. It’s the family there, go with your eyes closed.
Nice atmosphere. Just a pity there is not a little more jam in the morning at breakfast

Mold in the hostel and illegally charged credit card

In summary: Mold on the walls, hostel worker scams you by charging you extra, and they illegally charged my credit after I left.
This will be a lengthy review- since I have never had such a horrible hostel.
To start, on arrival there is an overly friendly worker who states the price of the hostel, which was higher than the price on hostel world claiming it is the price including taxes. He then gets me to pull up email, which states the extra taxes that are not included, but he still calculated the math wrong. After doing the math, I informed him I did not owe him 4 Dirham, but he in fact owed me 7, he still insisted I was wrong. I then pulled out my phone to do the math and he said ok and ended up just giving me 4 to end the discussion. But this was the least of the issues staying here.
Initially getting shown to my room, the lights would not turn on in the room. I was shown to a 6 person dorm when I booked a 4 person dorm. When I voiced these concerns he just stated “don’t worry only 4 people will be in it”. Luckily I ran into two other individuals who were staying in the room who asked if I saw all the mold in the corner- which due to the light not working- I was unable to see.
The two that I met pressed the hostel for a change in rooms to one without mold, or a refund. The overly nice, now seemingly shifty, hostel worker stated “this is not possible, there are no other hostels available in Marrakech”. After a quick search online- this was obviously false. It was only until we threatened to call the police that they finally agreed to move us hostels.
After they moved us hostels all seemed to be well- until the next morning I got a email that my Hostelworld reservation was canceled and my credit card was charged for the nights stay. I messaged the hostel inquiring about this. They denied any extra charges on my credit card, and stated they only canceled the room to free it up to be booked again. I only had one night booked, and it was canceled the next morning- so that logic did not make sense. They canceled it to prevent me from leaving a negative review on their platform.
After asking multiple times for a review they continue to deny any refund or change.
I have stayed at MANY hostels over my years of travel, some less than sanitary, some unpleasant hostel workers, but NEVER any experience like this. Even though it is cheap and has high reviews on hostel world- please do no book here and save yourself a nightmare of changing hostels and getting scammed.
If you have read this far please heart this comment to make it more relevant for others to see.
Attached is the pictures of the mold.

Safety concerns -AVOID

I checked in and left within 30 mins due to safety concerns.
There was a flood ongoing on the staircase - local people loitering in th communal areas, poorly maintained showers , toilets, bathrooms, down lighting was poor and dorms were dirty.
Hostel world m.om have removed my review as it did not comply with their policies - this is th sam revie near enough- it's how I found it hostrl world- you may not like it as it exposes holes in your business model but sadly I had to move hostels

Very unsafe experience

Very unsafe experience.
2 days before arrival, we contacted the property by phone and message to reduce our booking from 4 nights to 2 nights. The lady on the phone (most likely the owner) said ok and asked to send our booking reference, which we did. However, when we arrived the hostel refused to honor this, the receptionist told us we were still booked for 4 nights and demanded payment for the full stay. We explained again that we had already contacted them to amend the booking. He said he would call his boss. We waited approximately 30 minutes, but after multiple phone call attempts no one answered. The conversation was getting frustrating and after waiting and seeing no resolution we decided that we wanted to leave. When we decided to leave, one of the staff members told us “the door is already locked, you can’t leave.” We checked and the door was in fact locked.
This was very disturbing and frightening for us and we attempted to call the local police on 190, but no one answered. Fearing for our safety we began recording on a phone. During this time, one of the staff insulted us, including calling us “kahba,” and made threatening statements, including saying “I have a family, and I will get a problem for you.”
The situation lasted roughly 20-30 minutes, during which we were not allowed to leave.
Eventually, they said they reached the boss’s husband, who told them we could leave without paying. However, staff then tried to force us to delete the video. But after multiple times refusing they eventually let us out.
We were extremely shaken and left immediately by taxi to another hostel.
Days later, despite this incident and our cancellation, the hostel charged one of our credit card for the full stay. This is now being disputed through the bank.
I would strongly advise travelers to avoid this place if they want to remain safe.
