Overall, my experience was good. I especially want to highlight the staff: everyone was consistently courteous, professional, and very helpful. I have no complaints whatsoever about the service. The beach is spectacular, and the food I was able to try was excellent.
The main negative point for me was the hotel’s pet policy and, especially, the inconsistency in the information provided. Depending on whom I asked, I received a different answer about where I could and could not go with Cannoli. The hotel presents itself as pet friendly, but in practice I think it would be more accurate to say that it simply accepts pets. You can have your dog in the room and in certain outdoor areas, but pets are not allowed inside any of the restaurants.
This becomes particularly difficult in a destination where the outdoor temperature can feel close to 40°C. If you are traveling alone with your dog, as I was, you essentially have very limited opportunities to enjoy the hotel’s restaurants. One evening I was allowed to dine indoors with Cannoli at Spice Market, which I greatly appreciated, but I was later told that this had been an exception — or more specifically, a mistake — and that I should not have been allowed inside with him.
To me, there is an important difference between a hotel that “accepts pets” and one that is genuinely “pet friendly.” In this respect, I believe the hotel should either reconsider its policy or at least communicate it much more clearly and consistently.

Absolutely the Worst Resort Experience We’ve Ever Had
Our visit to the W Punta de Mita was, without question, the worst resort experience we’ve ever had.
From the moment we arrived, the service was terrible. The staff was consistently rude, dismissive, and made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests. For a resort charging luxury prices, the level of hospitality was completely unacceptable.
The property itself was also a huge disappointment. The beach chairs were dirty and worn and the beach felt neglected and was nothing like the luxury experience we expected. Considering the premium prices, there is simply no excuse for the condition of the beach and facilities.
The most disturbing part of our visit happened as we were leaving. A valet employee confronted us during a disagreement and told us, “This is not your country,” and said he could “send people to your room.” We perceived those statements as threatening and intimidating. No guest should ever be spoken to that way, especially by someone representing a luxury resort. Instead of attempting to resolve the situation professionally, we left feeling unsafe.
To put this in perspective, we visited Auberge the day before for essentially the same price. The difference was incredible. The service was warm and attentive, the beach was beautiful and clean, the chairs were comfortable, and the food was outstanding. It was everything a luxury resort should be.
There are far better places to spend your money in Punta Mita. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend the W and would strongly encourage travelers to choose one of the many other exceptional resorts in the area instead.

Best meal!
Had the most memorable and delicious lunch with Francelia and Joan at Chevycheria. We had the tuna tostada and aguachile, safe to say they were the best ceviches we have ever had!
