El Cid was a very good authentic hotel in Ensenada. Very enjoyable stay with very helpful staff. I will definitely go there again.

The staff there are great, very personable and accommodating. The facility does look like it has had some remodeling since the last time we were there. Unfortunately, we received a few mixed messages. We came in on the day before & we were told that there was availability & if we booked a room, we would be able to receive early check in. However, after booking, we arrived and were told that we could not have early check in after all. That's fine, we went around town & came back after the 3pm check in time. After checking in, we dropped off our luggage and went to grab some food. When we returned to the room, unfortunately we discovered that the room that we were given had roaches, multiple roaches. Within 20 minutes of being in the room, we killed several roaches on the floor, roaches climbing down the wall, and even baby roaches in the kitchenette area. My husband took the dead roaches down to the front desk to make sure that the staff could see & they seemed surprised. They moved us to a different room & expressed thoughts that maybe we had roaches in the initial room because our room had a balcony area that was near trees. The second room that they put is in was a little bigger, but facing the street so the ambiance wasn't the same. Thankfully we did not see more roaches but the bed wasn't comfortable & the water in the shower didn't get very hot. Overall, great staff but the accommodations left much to be desired, specifically after having to deal with multiple roaches.

Great location in the heart of downtown Ensenada with secure private parking. We were able to leave our vehicle and explore local attractions on foot.

Upon check-in, I had paid for a spacious room with a bar. To my surprise, the front desk informed me that all available rooms had been booked. They offered me the most undesirable option, a room devoid of windows, devoid of a view, and confined to four walls, and it was remarkably small with full of Roaches. I paid for a comfortable room, not for a subpar one. Furthermore, the front staff asked to upgrade my room for a larger one and that to pay the difference. The service provided was horrible, and I was thoroughly dissatisfied with this hotel. Disgusting

Really helpful and friendly staff and easy secure parking. Pool is ok. Rooms are very charming and well used. Great air conditioning. Would definitely stay here again.
