Good experience with some critiques

Overall a good hotel right in the heart of mdina which you can’t beat itself. We had a rental car and found it easy to park outside the Greek gate and walk in from there it was a short walk to the hotel! The gentleman who helped us when we got there was wonderful and even helped with luggage!
We had suite 3 and it was very nice and very spacious which we loved! It felt like a great value for the money we paid. It was also very clean and the gentleman who cleaned it our second day there did excellent. My only complaint there was the shower situation it is a little awkward with how the tub is set up and a large step in and out. We never had a hot shower most of the time it was cold to luke warm.
We loved the pool area although only open till 5 which it would be nice if that was extended for guests. The pool and roof top are just gorgeous! The food from the restaurant was very good too! We ate twice and were pleased!
Breakfast was good but very slow it took almost an hour to get our food and coffee I believe the young lady operating it was on her own which I’m sure is challenging although a small hotel! Had she had help i think it would have gone a long way! We also encountered an issue with our room key while waiting for breakfast and the staff could not figure out how to get us back in so we had to wait to get help until we were done eating.
I would personally stay again and I think with some small changes this could be a five star for sure!

The hotel was amazing. It felt special to stay in this city. Highly recommend it. We met Omar the owner and he told us this used to be his family home, which he took 12 years to renovate. It’s amazing ! We debated on staying in Rabat and glad we chose not too. You get a different and better experience to stay directly in this city. Walking around after dark there are not many people and the city looks enchanting. We ate two times at Fontenella Tea Garden for breakfast. Also ate at Coogie’s and AD 1530… great choices. The Medina Restaurant looked nice as well with a guitar player in the evening. We sat on the rooftop one afternoon but did not get a chance to use the pool. Looked great though.

Fantastic historic hotel in the heart of Mdina, but needs a larger staff at the hotel and restaurant.

Really beautiful historic boutique hotel with fantastic charm and beautiful rooms located right within the walls of Mdina a very short walk from the Greeks gate. Has a very nice small restaurant on the rooftop that had great food but was severely understaffed on the day we were there. The food was very good and came quickly once you got served but they only had two guys working the tables and one was also acting as the bartender. I noticed staffing was an issue throughout the hotel. Great staff, just not enough of them. For instance the front desk is only manned until 9PM and was not open when we left at 0700 the next morning. Other times the hotel is closed and you have to use your key card to enter. We were very concerned about what we would do if we returned in the evening and they only room key they gave us didn't work as. happened when we checked in. Fix the staffing and this hotel is hands down a 5 rating. Loved strolling Mdina at night after the crowds had departed and it becomes very quiet at night. There are several very nice restaurants nearby within the Walls.
One additional issue was the pillows which were very firm and uncomfortable.
In the end this is a great place to stay and you definitely feel like you are in a centuries old Palazzo because you are . They just need a larger staff.

Beautiful little boutique hotel in Mdina

Charming hotel in Mdina - little hard to find but quite close to the cathedral square.
We had one of the downstairs rooms - Agatha - which only has a small window high upon the wall while some of the rooms on the next level would have larger windows.
Bed very comfortable apart from the pillows which were a bit hard.
Very large bathroom with seperate shower and bath and underfloor heating which was great at this time of year.
Breakfast started a bit late at 8-30 which means that as you have to order, you do not really start to eat before about 9am. Reasonable breakfast menu - nice fruit bowls, owlets, scrambled eggs etc.
What is really very special about this hotel ,however, is its location in Mdina - to be able to walk around in the early morning or night before or after the large groups of visitors arrive is very special. It really is the silent city at night.
To stay in an original and beautifully restored palazzo in Mdina is a wonderful experience.
