Anson Hotel - Recommended Hotel in Teluk Intan
There’s 2-reason why we stayed in this hotel.
First, this hotel was just next to Hawayi the famous dessert shop in Teluk Intan. Secondly, it is only 180m from
Church of St Anthony.
This hotel is also walking distance from the Menara Condong, Batu Tenggek, Istana Lama Raja Muda dan Balai Polis Lama.
The hotel is very clean with basic amenities in the room. You need to bring your own tooth brush as no tooth brush/paste is provided.
There’s a Japanese restaurant next to the hotel (inside actually), Papa Sushi. All the restaurants are nearby within walking distance.
This hotel is a good hotel for those who would like to explore Teluk Intan by foot.

Would give it a GOOD rating if it existed!
We stayed at Anson for a couple of days when visiting Teluk Intan. The location was good & about 5-10 mins' walk to the Leaning Tower. There are also a few famed eateries nearby - Hawayi, Anson Hainan Kopitiam & Old Anson Road Recipies Nasi Kandar.
We were asked to pay the tourism tax upon check-in but after we checked the paper work & informed staff we had paid the booking company, this was refunded.
The room was clean & pretty spacious. There was a small balcony but as the door & window didn't lock very well, it didn't feel very safe as people staying in neighbouring rooms could easily climb over. They could also look into the window so we kept the curtains closed.
There was only one roll of toilet paper & one bottle of shower gel, as well as one bottle of shampoo. Bottles of water were provided - would have been better if dispensers were provided for toiletries & water coolers provided in corridors.
There wasn't a lot of storage room or hangers. The towels were very threadbare & stained; they even had holes in them! The shower was super noisy, as if some vacuum cleaner was being operated! A hair dryer wasn't provided in the room but was available from reception. A bin wasn't provided in the bathroom.
The aircon was pretty cold & difficult to moderate. Like most guesthouses we have stayed in, in Malaysia, there is no separation between the shower & bathroom so everywhere would be wet after a shower.
We saw that housekeeping staff were cleaning rooms on our floor, so went to ask them to refresh ours - saw two of them sitting on the bed of another room looking at their phones, so it wasn't a great impression.
While the bed was made & toiletries and toilet paper replenished (2 bottles each of shower gel & shampoo), the bottles of water weren't. The floor also didn't seem to have been cleaned.
Overall, the stay at Anson wasn't bad. The location was really good & staff were friendly & welcoming. The overall cleanliness was also better than some other places we have stayed in. We wouldn't hesitate to return to the hotel or recommend it.

Short holidays
We had been staying in this hotel whenever we visited TA as we find their location very convenient with shopping complexes nearby and the iconic Chongdong is just walking distance away. All their staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The room is clean, comfortable and have all basic amenities. We strongly recommend this hotel whoever wish to have a short break in this small and lovely town.
