Unique & Peaceful Resort

Temple Tree was just the perfect choice for our stay in Langkawi.
A 10 minute taxi ride from the airport but very quiet and relaxing.
We stayed in Estate 4 which was one of the smaller bungalows that was originally a plantation workers house from the 1940s.
On saying that it was a good size with an ensuite, peaceful verandah and a private garden. We spent several mornings sitting on the verandah watching the sunrise and listening to the birds, it was magical.
It was a well appointed room and we had everything we needed. The a/c and large ceiling fan were fine for cooling the room down and we slept well. Earplugs were provided but we didn't need them.
Breakfast had plenty of choice with a hot & cold buffet plus fresh hot food station for the preparation of egg dishes & was served in the on site restaurant, Paloh, which had a lovely terrace in the grounds. Paloh also served lunch & evening meals.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The on site outdoor pool was a little oasis; quiet and had beds & umbrellas.
The hotel grounds were lovely. Well tended but not over manicured gardens.
It is a 15 minute walk to Chenang Beach which is a beautiful quiet beach that had beds & umbrellas to hire.
A unique hotel which we were really pleased we chose for our stay

Wow! What a gorgeous resort. I have never stayed anywhere quite like here. The heritage buildings are absolutely gorgeous and are all original. The way they have renovated these but kept the original feel is lovely.
When we arrived the room wasn’t quite like the photo, I think an issue with Hotels.com advert - honestly we thought we had a whole cabin to ourselves but they are rooms within the cabins / buildings. The staff were fantastic and quickly moved us into the room we were expecting. The room had a cosy living room with TV, a nice bedroom and decent bathroom with a cool wooden bath tub. Be warned tho - they are quite rustic but it’s all a part of the lovely charm this hotel offers.
One things we loved about this hotel was the pool. Again I’ve not been in one quite like it - it was all made with stone (I think) rather than tiles and looks right onto a gorgeous spa building - so cool!
The breakfast and food options were also great and reasonably priced (breakfast was included of course).
The location is very close to the airport, and to get around the island my husband and I hired a car which I would highly recommend, just made things so much easier.
I would certainly recommend this hotel, walking around looking at all the different buildings was great, and thanks to all the welcoming and helpful staff.

One of the most special places I discovered in Langkawi

I spent four days at Temple Tree Resort and honestly, I could have stayed much longer.
What makes this place so special is the heritage houses. They have been restored with so much care and respect for their history, while still making them comfortable and perfectly suited to a stay today. Every house has its own character, details and story, and walking around the property feels like discovering a little piece of Malaysia’s past.
Because I work with locations, I am particularly interested in architecture, interiors and places with a strong sense of identity. I asked the team if I could see some of the houses that were available, and they were incredibly kind and showed me several of them. I was honestly blown away. I could have spent hours exploring them and looking at all the details.
The whole property is beautiful, surrounded by tropical gardens, and there is something incredibly relaxing about being here. It is the kind of place where you arrive and immediately feel that you don’t really need to go anywhere else.
At the same time, the location is very convenient for exploring Langkawi, and it is easy to take a Grab to different parts of the island when you do want to go out and discover more.
The team was also wonderful throughout my stay. Everyone was warm, helpful and genuinely welcoming, and you can really feel the care that goes into looking after this place.
Temple Tree is not just a hotel. It is a collection of beautifully restored homes, each with its own personality, surrounded by nature and filled with history. For anyone who loves architecture, design, heritage and places with a real sense of character, I honestly cannot recommend it enough.
I absolutely loved my stay and would go back to Temple Tree in a heartbeat. It is one of those places where you find yourself thinking, “I could stay here for much longer.”

Excellent boutique hotel

This is an excellent boutique hotel with helpful English speaking staff.
The breakfast buffet is excellent as is the restaurant for à la carte meals.
We stayed in the Nasri Tembulan house, a restored 1940s colonial home. It was simple and rustic but the beds were excellent with mozzie nets and air conditioned bedrooms. Thoughtfully ear plugs are provided in case you don’t enjoy the morning call to prayer.
This is an outstanding option is if you want high level comfort and food and you’re looking for something more interesting and beautiful than a large 5 star resort. Highly recommend.

Thank you for your fantastic review and for recommending Temple Tree so highly.
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our Negeri Sembilan House and appreciated the unique experience of staying in one of our beautifully restored heritage homes. Preserving the charm and history of these houses while ensuring modern comfort is something we are truly passionate about.
It's wonderful to know that you enjoyed our breakfast buffet, your dining experience at Paloh Restaurant, and the warm hospitality provided by our team. Your kind comments about the comfort of the beds and the thoughtful amenities, including the mosquito nets and earplugs, are greatly appreciated.
We are especially honoured that you consider Temple Tree a beautiful and distinctive alternative to a large five-star resort. Creating an authentic, peaceful, and memorable experience is exactly what we strive to offer every guest.
Thank you once again for your recommendation. We look forward to welcoming you back to Temple Tree for another memorable stay.

Its not as it looks like on photos. The room was very antiquated and almost unkept with insects crawling here and there. Staff were extremely nice.
