Absolutely Amazing Stay at Monot Suites! The hotel is Super Modern and impeccably clean, making my stay super comfortable. The staff is very kind and welcoming. And always available to help with anything you need. The indoor pool and gym are so convenient. I enjoyed my Swim and workout under a rainy weather! The service is a 10/10. The location is a walking distance to Beirut Central District, saifi village and ashrafieh.

Location good. Facilities fine. Noisy at night due to nightclub in ground floor. Not a recommendable hotel if you want to go to sleep early.

Monot Suites... Till The Beats Go Down

Monot Suites – Till the Beats Go Down…!!
After a year and a half long, I opted for a week off to visit Beirut, check on the family and enjoy a much needed time off with the Mrs.
I checked my favorite booking website, and saw that ParkTower suites had amazing rates, having stayed in this hotel before, and knowing the quality they have, I didn’t hesitate to book there.
My Mrs and I reached to ParkTower suites almost at midnight on our Check in date, and were told by the receptionist that they had relocated us to their sister establishment, Monot Suites, and have even upgraded our room to a junior suite. Yay?! Hold your horses… The receptionist said that an Email was sent to us in advance, which I couldn’t locate, but for the sake of fairness, I later found it in my Junk Mail. Fun part was that the email was sent at 3pm on the day of our check in, so assuming I got to the hotel at noon, what would have happened? Or was the price hiked up and my discounted rate ended up being relocated? As a person who worked in the industry for a long time, I understand that these things happen. And knowing the area, I was happy to get the offer and head to the other place, knowing that its only 3 minutes’ drive.
We got to the Hotel, had the underground complimentary parking and entered the small reception, which mainly consisted of a desk and 2 couches.
No complimentary drinks were offered, and the receptionist was trying his best to speak in every language on earth, even though we were replying in Arabic, but for some reason he kept insisting on English or French, It doesn’t make you cool though does it?
The receptionist told us that Breakfast will be served either in our room or in the café downstairs, and it’s a VIP style breakfast… VIP you say? The Mrs and I decided that for 1 day, we’ll at least try the Grandiose VIP Style Buckingham Palace Kind of Breakfast… After all, he did insist on VIP, and repeated it twice.
Is it fair to say, that this is the first time that I felt a receptionist trying to have an Ego over guests? Ouff! Not a good feeling.
We got up to the room, which was spacious, a separate living room with a kitchenette, a bedroom with a double sized bed (not king), and a bathroom with a shower. Which is similar to what we have booked at ParkTower (Superior Suite).
Come bedtime, and the mattress could not be any thicker/tougher… The cloudy that you sometimes get when on hotel beds, suddenly disappeared for the sake of a weird Japanese bamboo stick kind of mattress. It was seriously thick, and the pillows were not even helping. It is customary in hotels to have 4 pillows, 2 on each side, and 1 of each kind (a thin one and a puffy one), but this hotel made sure that all 4 were thin…
We slept the night away and went out the next morning to enjoy some quality time.
The second evening witnessed a nightclub inside of our room, and I kid you not… The beats and base coming from the nightclub next door, were perfectly audible and shakable right inside the room, which beats the fact of a hotel where someone might seek comfort, mind you that the former hotel (ParkTower Suites) has sound proof windows which are amazing. For a hotel opening next to such a place, wouldn’t you want similar windows?
We filled up the breakfast card and opted to enjoy the outdoor weather and have it outdoors. Now ParkTower has a buffet spread for breakfast, not a huge one, but a very nice spread of things you’d actually want, and I was perfect with that. We asked for our breakfast to be at 10am, at 10:05 we get a call from the reception, indirectly asking to shake it or else the food will get cold. I rushed my way down, to literally see two trays parked inside a room next to the reception, waiting for us to get there.
Listen, if you do not have a kitchen facility, do not even offer breakfast. But if a guest is 5 minutes late, you do not precook his eggs and have them waiting… This is not hospitality, this is Alcatraz!
The tray, which again I remind you is supposed to introduce us to the almighty VIP breakfast, had what I could exactly eat at home. Scrambled Eggs, Labneh (Lebanese style yogurt), Cheese, 4 pcs of Pastry, a bit of Veggies and Orange Juice… Now, get this… Tea & Coffee are for a surcharge!!!
Never, in my life, have I seen a hotel where breakfast Tea and Coffee are charged… Who does that? Seriously, from the 3 stars IBIS, to the 5 stars Address, you get free coffee and tea for breakfast… but that is the part, where I knew, that we weren’t upgraded not even for a bit.
We wrapped up our stay, very unimpressed with what we saw, even though as a location, the hotel wins big time, but there are a lot of improvements to be made in a country that is struggling to get its hotel occupancy up and going.
