Superb food at - frankly - ridiculously reasonable prices

We found this the traditional way - driving around the Latvian countryside, getting hungry, and looking for a decent eatery with a "consensus of cars." When we saw both pensioners and contractors pulling into the restaurant (there is a hotel associated with this property in a separate structure a few meters away), we knew we'd found our place.
Well off the tourist route, there were enough pictures, enough "point and talk," and a decent amount of English on the menu to make everything doable.
Food was - all around and in every way - excellent. Large portions by European standards (and "right sized" for Americans), there was plenty. Prices for a complete meal to include drinks hovered around six euros. The menu held both traditional and contemporary Latvian favorites made on the property.
If I can find it again (okay, it's on Google Maps), we'll be back!

Pleasant Staff

Other then the TV not working, this was a nice stay. Beautiful landscape, great restaurant and awesome staff. They did not clean the room at all during my stay, but for the price, I can clean up after myself. Room looked a little dated, but gave you the feel of living back in the day. If you are feeling adventures or just want to get away for a night or two, I highly suggest staying.

Calm and relaxing

Nice and calm place. The facility it self is nothing special, but it's clean, cheap and very friendly staff. The park is well kept. In walking distance to Valdemar diki, a nice 'Put and take' lake. Good breakfast. I recommend for a short stay

Nice stay close to via baltica

This is lovely small family run hotel. Garden is pretty and suitable for children. Rooms are quite simple yet clean. breakfast is suitable for kids and adults.
road from riga is in good condition and traffic is ok. close to oskrogs is medium size city where are all shopping facilities that you will need.

Homely

We stoped at the Oskrogs for a late lunch on our way from Serene to Riga. The food was simple like homemade and very delicious. Taking orders, bringing dishes, making coffee, serving drinks, manning the till was done by single person- a lovely girl. She was amazingly efficient! We will certainly visit Oskrogs next time we go to Serene.
