Great overnight stay in beautiful hotel near Annan

Perfect place for a short overnight stay for my family of 4 adults. We arrived at Amman International Airport at 11pm with a prearranged pickup by Opal Hotel which I highly recommend. The hotel is beautiful with nice sized bedrooms for our family. We actually had a hotel suite with 2 separate rooms which was ideal and not unreasonably priced. In the morning, we enjoyed a great complimentary breakfast with much to choose from. We left at 9am with our private guide to visit Jerash. Great hotel and I wished we could have stayed longer.

Never judge a book by its cover

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of days with the intention of getting some rest and sleep . I selected this specific hotel because it was close to the airport, was suppose to be nonsmoking and supposedly they had English speaking workers.
My trip started with a rude and fast driving driver. Once I got to the hotel they scanned my bags and the security guard accused me of having alcohol inside my handbag. Therefore they searched my bag. I had two bottles of water that was given to me by the airlines. Now granted I had just came directly from airport . Also if it was alcohol , Jordan sells alcohol!!! Don’t accuse people. This was very insulting to me and totally changed my decision not to travel back to Jordan again. I do not have to travel to places that are rude and unwelcoming to me. I have always respected other countries, their rules, cultures and their people. I also noticed the next day that they were not searching or scanning other guests bags only specific guest which is discriminating . Jordan depends on a high percentage of its income from tourism. Be nice to your tourist, not mean, jealous or disrespectful to them.
The hotel also was noisy every night during my stay. The hotel held loud wedding parties daily until 2:30 am -3:00 am . My assigned room was over the venue. The room was shaking and vibrating all night and I was unable to sleep. The atmosphere was LOUD.
The hotel rates its self as a 4 star hotel. It is not a 4 star, maybe to Middle Easterner standards. The rooms need updating, the linen was old and torn, there was mold in the shower. The cable never worked , the directional signs throughout the hotel were labeled wrong, (causing me to get lost) and there were areas where in which the hotel had old furniture stored in the stair well (Fire Hazard).
Finally, The Opal was overpriced, it should have been priced at a 2 star level hotel. People were smoking in the restaurant and in their rooms . I booked the hotel mainly because it said it was non smoking.
The two good things about the hotel was the nice valets and the restaurant. The food was delicious. Other than that it is overpriced, not a 4 star and noisy.
