Rich in nature
We went with five people, a high school student, a junior high school student, and an elementary school student, plus my husband and wife. It was close to Ubara Beach, clean and comfortable. The bath was also very good, combining good old times with nature. The cosmetics provided were also good. There was ice cream in front of the bath, and my child ate it every time he went in. When you have children, they tend to leave their dinner because of their likes and dislikes, but since it was simple and fresh, they ate most of it. The sashimi was especially popular, and the golden-eyed snapper was delicious! The golden-eyed snapper was also delicious when boiled. There was enough to eat, including the last bowl of ochazuke, and it was delicious from start to finish. The children's meal included crab gratin and hamburger steak, and the high school student said it was restaurant-quality. It's a very good inn, but there is a tunnel (which is its selling point), crabs are moving around, and there are insects because it is rich in nature. It may be difficult for people who hate insects. Also, we were in a detached building, but we could hear the voices of the neighbors very well. We were in a good inn, so we would like to visit again.

"Swept Away" to WWII Soldiers' HideOut
Driving through the underground tunnel, the cousins were laughing, "just like 'Swept Away' movie!"
The UNIQUE experience is the World War II History. Japanese soldiers of the Secret Kamikaze Torpedo Unit overtook this ryokan as their hideout and they trained in the bay. They dug The Cave Bath around a water well just using picks without any other tools. The entrance was slightly taller than the cousins' waist!
The entire area is nicknamed "Utopia". It's a Fascinating Onsen with 4 different baths. There is a large indoor onsen at the top looking out over the little marina, but we fell in love with The Tunnel Onsen. Down a flight of stairs and through the historic tunnel to arrive at this cave-like onsen with the huge picture windows overlooking a beautiful slice of paradise (turquoise sea). Get in the bath before dark as there are no lights on the shore. Alternating night/morning for men/women. One more outdoor onsen for rent (privacy or mixed company) needed to be cleaned after a rain so reserve in advance.
Think old-fashioned ryokan, since 1924. Both times we stayed the food was very abundant based on local seafood. Local sake was good too. The rooms were nothing special but clean, and not as small as Tokyo ones. Our large party had dinner in the tatami room but they had put out tables and chairs for us. Not so many rooms so the baths are usually private.
Breakfast & Dinner included. No credit cards accepted. English is very minimal. One staff member spoke Chinese. No bar after 10 PM, so definitely not full service. Come to rest...

looks like my grandmothers old house..
i stayed here with my husband supposed to be 2 days but when we saw the place we decided to stayed just for a night.the room is so small and old.not an ordinary ryokan they said theres a history of japan world war 2 .not for a young people i think.the food is ordinary for me sashimi and fish ryori.i like the tunnel oforo its unique for me.before we check out we decided to go trekking its beautiful place they call it paradise....for the benefit of the doubt i enjoyed the tunnel oforo and trekking.but i dont think i wanna go back again....

美味かった
夕ごはんでは、やがらの刺身など新鮮な地魚が食べきれないくらいでて、キンメの煮付け、和牛の鉄板焼きなど凄く美味しい料理の数々で、2回目の宿泊ですがまた、リピートしたい宿でした。
2回とも西館の離れに宿泊しましたが、ロケーションが最高でした。

１５年ぶりに伺いました
車１台ようやく通れるトンネルを抜け、坂道を上がると宿の駐車場につきます
鵜原館はリホームしたらしく、外見は昔の面影は全くありませんでした
男女の内湯のほか、家族風呂、トンネル風呂、洞窟風呂があります
線質は弱アルカリ性の単純泉
トンネル風呂は朝日を見ることができますが、洞窟風呂との時間割で、男女いれ替えがあります。
男女の内湯からは、夕日を見ることができます。
宿の中にはエレベーターが設置されています。１階～２階へ移動。
温泉場は２階から階段移動になります
宿泊したのは２０７号室
６畳の和式。トイレと洗面所があります。
冷蔵庫は小さいもの。テレビも１４インチでの液晶のアクオス
窓を開けると食堂の屋根しか見えません
食事は１階の大広間でテーブル食です
１５年前の時は、部屋食で鯵の天ぷらなど和ものでしたが、現在は和洋折衷の食事です。味はいいです。量もちょうどいい感じです。えてして、食事の量が多すぎて食べきれないほど出る宿が多いのですが、ちょうどいい感じでした。
配膳の係りは若い女性が多く、てきぱきとしていおました。
若女将も親切です。
