It's famous for its rocky baths.
The Mitoku River is beautiful in your room with a river view. I think it is rare to find a ryokan facing the river like this even in Misasa Onsen.
Enter it in your room book. It is a spacious and luxurious construction. Smoking is prohibited and the air is clean away from the city. It's quite spacious and surprising. Right by the river, dragonflies and other things are flying past the window glass.
The ryokan's eponymous cave bath has a fixed time slot for men and women, so we recommend arriving early.
The cave baths are so-called radioactive springs, radium springs and thorium springs. Thorium Onsen is the first name I have heard, but this is the only inn in Misasa Onsen. And it's only one out of five.
It is nice to enjoy these multiple sources at the same time.
Meals are kaiseki dishes served one at a time. It's elaborate and delicious. There were no bowls, or rather, tea soba, but minus that, dinner is delicious.

A hot spring that feels like you're in a rocky river
The polite service, delicious food, and hot springs were the best.
The open-air bath was washed away and can no longer be used, but we had booked a room with an open-air bath, so it was no problem.
This inn is a cultural property, and we were told it was about to celebrate its 100th anniversary, so we were able to see the work of the palace carpenters everywhere.
We thoroughly enjoyed the large free-flowing bath and the precious thorium spring!! It felt like we were in a river surrounded by rocks. The temperature of the water was just right.
It really felt good.
Nakai-san said that the thorium spring cured his atopic dermatitis, and it was convincing.
The food was also carefully prepared and delicious. If we could be greedy, we would be more satisfied if there was dessert at breakfast and delicious coffee for free.
The open-air bath is scheduled to reopen in a year, so we would like to go again.

Crab crab crab!
In a room without a private bath, I chose a meal that came with crab sashimi and crab shabu-shabu.
This inn is a nationally registered tangible cultural property and has a lot of atmosphere.
The large baths include a rock cave bath and a babbling brook bath (a cypress bath and a marble bath).
The rock cave bath is a natural large bath where the hot spring water from the Mitoku River has been used as a bathtub.
It felt like I was in nature and was very relaxing.
I also took a bath in the Mochi babbling brook bath (morning).
We ate in the dining area (a large hall like a banquet hall) and the food was crab-filled.
The portions were just right and it was delicious.
The inn's waiter (male) was very kind and polite, which was great.
My father suddenly collapsed during the meal, but they responded quickly.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your help at that time.

Heritage Site and Great Hot Springs
Food was great (lot of volume). We ordered an extra mattress to make our sleep a bit more comfortable but it was still a challenge to get up off the floor.
Our room was located right next to a smoking area, so we were not impressed and having to check out at 10:00 AM was terrible because we missed the opportunity to have one more bathing experience.
This hotel has been granted a Japanese heritage designation site and received an emperor’s award for the quality of their food.
Beautiful location and great service
