Piazza Cavour Suites" Review: The Worst Hotel Experience of My Life

Where do I even begin with this absolute nightmare of a so-called "hotel"? My family and I had the misfortune of booking a stay at "Piazza Cavour Suites" during what was supposed to be a dream trip to Rome, especially for my elderly mother, who has been dreaming of this visit her entire life. What we got instead was the stuff of nightmares.
First off, the name "Suites" is laughable. The rooms are unbelievably tiny. It was me, my wife, our toddler, and my elderly mother crammed into a space that could barely fit a twin bed comfortably. I can't even begin to imagine how they justify calling these "suites." It was like being stuck in a closet with no room to move, and it was a challenge just to navigate around our luggage without tripping over it.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by…nothing. Absolutely nothing was prepared for our arrival. No welcoming smile, no help with our luggage, nothing. But that was just the start. When we finally got to our room, we were horrified to find it in a disgusting state. The rooms were filthy—I'm talking visible dirt and grime on the floors, and stains on the bedding. The final straw was the mold, which we found growing in the sink, the shower, and even the coffee maker! Yes, you read that right—there was white and green mold in the coffee maker. Who knows how long that had been festering.
To make matters worse, the staff were not only unhelpful but outright rude. When we asked for the room to be cleaned, they acted like we were inconveniencing them, and when I mentioned the mold, they just shrugged it off as if it was no big deal.
But the real kicker? The hotel advertised air conditioning, which was a major reason we booked in the first place, given that Rome in the summer can be unbearable. Well, guess what? All the air conditioning units had been removed from the building. That's right—not a single one in sight. The temperature in our room was over 90 degrees Fahrenheit at night, and to top it off, the fan in the room didn’t work either. We were practically suffocating in there, unable to get any sleep, and constantly worried about my elderly mother in the stifling heat.
Desperate for some sort of remedy, I called the owner to ask for a refund, explaining how completely unacceptable this situation was. Their response? "We can offer you a crib for your toddler on the house." Are you kidding me? A crib? That's their idea of compensation for this complete disaster? Needless to say, we checked out as soon as possible and found somewhere else to stay.
This place is a scam, plain and simple. The "Piazza Cavour Suites" is nothing but a bait-and-switch operation designed to take advantage of tourists. Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump at all costs. It was the worst hotel experience of my life, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

One night stay

We stayed here for one night in Rome. The lady at the desk was super helpful and friendly. The room was nice. We stayed in a triple room which was a nice size. Small kitchen with everything you’d need. The location was a short walk to a nearby metro station. It can be a little difficult to find as it has no sign to stand out. But all in all it was a nice stay

Excellent all round

Basic but extremely clean and comfortable. The staff were fantastic, and very helpful. Beds comfortable, shower lovely, air con/heating, lift very small so may not do for someone with a disability or for large pushchairs etc. Very reasonably priced coffee machine. Breakfast included is at a small cafe round the corner which is lovely and welcoming. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Rome
