The location is great if you are needing to be near the train station or not as it is a lively and busy area with many wonderful historical places and a variety of very good food choices all within walking distance. The staff were all very kind and the room was comfortable and had everything I needed including a fan and an air conditioner and a very good small refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water.

This was the worse property I have ever visited, the only thing positive was that it was close to the train station and there was hot water. The staff was friendly, but there were no services at all--no knowledge of the area, nothing. The pictures of the property were old and did not match what I encountered. There was trash inside an all the front area, including a broken toilet. Cigarette butts in the room window grates and the room smelled of smoke every day when I returned.

I had a bad experience with Hotel Washington in Rome. I booked a room through Booking.com for one night from October 18-19, 2025. Just as I was about to go to the hotel with my suitcase, I received a call from the hotel at around 5 PM on October 18 telling me that they have no rooms available for me and Booking.com should not have made the reservation. They told me not to come to the hotel. Rome had multiple events that weekend (half-marathon, etc.) so I spent the next 3 hours trying to find another room. Eventually, I was able to find a room through Booking.com near the airport. To my shock, Hotel Washington charged me for the room as a "no show" in spite of the fact that THEY called me to say that they have no room for me even though I had confirmed reservation. When I complained to Booking.com, the hotel told them that "they could have honored the booking". This comment from the hotel is not based on facts. If a customer with a reservation gets a phone call from this hotel saying that they have no room available for them, please make sure that you still go to the hotel and ask for a room. If they refuse to give you a room, please call the agency through which you booked the room and have them talk to the hotel. This way the hotel cannot charge you later as a "no show". If any other customer had an experience similar to mine with this hotel, please provide a review for the benefit of future customers who might be considering making a reservation at this hotel. Not only the hotel charged me $400 for a room that they said was not available but I was stranded on the streets of Rome for several hours until thankfully I found a room in another hotel near the airport. Needless to say, I missed sightseeing in Rome in the evening due to the above situation.

Very disappointed with Hotel Washington
The bar is advertised but was never open. Breakfast is advertised but we were told by the hotel that they don't do breakfast. The double room was 12 feet x 12 feet. One drawer and one cupboard. To get to the toilet the access door brushed the bed. Coming from the other side one had to duck down to avoid hitting the TV. Outside was like a building site not to mention a playground for rats at the rubbish bins. The pictures tell the truth about the room. They are nothing like the ones on the hotel website. My advice is stay elsewhere. Needless to say we will definitely NOT be booking Hotel Washington ever again. To think that we paid £520+ for 4 nights it was daylight robbery to say the least.

This hotel is actually has a main door (gate) to a courtyard to many other hotels. The gate was locked and we could not enter the courtyard and there was no button to unlock the gate or to alert the receptionist. We we lucky that there was a guest opening the gate. I believed he had checked-in. Once we enter Hotel Washington reception, there was a guy, not friendly at all, not even stand-up while talking to us..
Room conditions:
We booked twin bed but we were given a combined 2 single beds and not queen bed.
Other conditions as per attached photos for you to judge the room conditions.
