Great small hotel in Lonato

The Rustichello is a little hidden gem that offers decent accommodation with great value for money. The hotel in general looks a bit dated but the rooms are comfortable and kept very clean with all amenities. This place is family run and the owners take special pride to make you feel comfortable and welcome. A continental breakfast buffet is included in the fare, we found it satisfying and varied. There is also dinner with a set menu with a selection of starters and mains to choose from, we dined here a few times and loved it, excellent traditional Italian cuisine with a small but well-chosen wine list. Definitely recommended.

Not a 3 star hotel!!!

I don't usually write negative reviews but this time I feel compelled to do so. We stayed at this hotel/motel for one night and the experience was very bad. When we arrived there was no one at reception, only after ringing the bell several times did the owner reveal himself. The room we were given was outside the structure (motel style) and unfortunately the photos speak for themselves: walls with mold and dirt, bathroom door in terrible condition. Smell of old, stale and dust everywhere!!! Cleanliness is the basis of a good stay, even if it's just for one night! As for breakfast, a buffet without praise and terrible service... here too, only one person has to manage the reception and the bar at the same time. Practically zero attention to customer requests.
Personally I would never, ever call it a 3* hotel!!!

In my opinion there is better....

I stayed only 1 night at the Rustichello because I was at work during the weekend of the fair in Montichiari. I didn't book but the company I work for. I had read a review here that differed from the Booking reviews. A place that would also be pleasant from the outside: a beautiful garden and a beautiful reception room on the ground floor. At the reception there was a boy who explained to me a bit of everything including how to get back to the room if I had to return after 10.30pm in the evening. I enter my room and find myself in a large L-shaped room (1 double bed and 1 single bed). Comfortable bed with 4 pillows next to a sofa. The small bathroom closes with a folding door and a toilet water drain that flows slowly without ever stopping. Bidet placed in the corner in front of the shower but accessible only to those who are up to 1.60 meters tall because it is then mathematically impossible for their legs to enter. Shower in poor condition (see photo) including the rod that holds the shower head which remained in my hand a couple of times. Toilet plumbing connections repairable and semi-broken seat. I slept well also because I was noticeably tired from the day, an average breakfast with certainly not homemade products. Well in general for the price they paid it wouldn't even be a tragedy but the structure needs a good refresh and modernization because it could have potential!

It can fit

Let's start with a necessary premise: we didn't eat in the hotel, but from the pig's menu that I saw going around, a "convinced non-vegan" like me would have found something to enjoy...
Located in a not particularly panoramic position (on a large road), the restaurant room is very large and bright, we also saw a beautiful, equally large banquet room.
The room is of standard size (so not small, so to speak), but with some flaws: comfortable bed but absolutely too low (never slept in a bed that was almost level with the floor...), heating on all night (greenhouse effect...), lack of bidet towels and finally shower water that takes a very long time to become hot...
Finally, this time it is worth mentioning the breakfast, quite varied, although not of super high quality.
In conclusion, it is recommended for short stays passing through for an on-the-road holiday on Garda.

Dirty, neglected and old

I stayed just one night on my way back from a holiday. The hotel is almost acceptable from the outside, but once you walk through the door it's a nightmare. I waited 10 minutes before someone deigned to welcome me at the reception despite having repeatedly rang the bell. Finally, a lady arrives whose only concern is that the 2 euro tourist tax must be paid and that the room keys are left at reception during her absence from the room. Keys are within anyone's reach as the reception is unattended!! I hope no one rummages in my luggage. Then after stairs and narrow corridors I arrive at the double room. Terrifying. Four beds and various other pieces of furniture thrown away haphazardly, a very strong smell of deodorant, dust and stale air. The old, dirty bathroom, broken toilet seat, bin full of rubbish from previous guests and an indescribable sliding door to close it. Multiple sockets everywhere in the name of safety. And last but not least, to go to sleep I lift the bedspread and the sheet has a stain... no one will ever know what. The night passes with the air conditioning freezing my neck and early in the morning I get up and have breakfast. Non-existent buffet, burnt and greasy croissants, a sense of total neglect and improvisation. I quickly close my suitcase, say goodbye and run away. I will never go back there again and I strongly advise against it. It's not worth the money required for the super dated rooms and furniture, the bathroom totally needs renovating and above all it's incredibly dirty. Three undeserved stars do not correspond to the state of affairs. Don't go there.
