Close to Public Transportation

This Hotel is older but nice, walking distance to bus station and santa maria novella train station. Breakfast has many selections. There are plenty of restaurants around, walking distance to the Plaza. Staff are very friendly. Rooms are clean. No airconditioning, but can open the windows. We went in April and the weather was great, warm during the day but cooler at night. I would definitely stay at this property again. They do not have iron or ironing board in the room. Airport distance about 10 mins via taxi and cost around 20euros. You can also get to hotel via bus for $6 euros but around 1 block walk from the station.

Won't stay there again

We were booked here through an agency handling accommodations for the World Trisome Games. We learned later that another country refused to stay at the Cavaliere. We found out why. Disinterested hotel manager. Very poor breakfast buffet with sparse choices. Small rooms with bad air conditioning system.

Trip to Florence

On arrival our welcome to the hotel was very poor, very little interest shown..When I asked questions as to where restaurants, shop's etc were the reply was " half an hour walk " or you could get a bus, when I asked where I could get a bus the reply was " over there " NOT VERY HELPFUL....
The room was not a good standard, all the walls had dirty black marks ( even on the ceiling) there are two lights in the bathroom, ONLY ONE WORKED, the furniture was also very shabby, all in all it needed a good update, face lift, and re decorating. There was no information in the room as regards breakfast times, I had to ask for a hairdryer even though one should have been in the room..The breakfast was very nice, however the furniture ( seating ) was filthy dirty ...Their description of the hotel { how far from the centre etc is very misleading } I loved Florence, but would not return to this hotel.......

poor price-performance ratio

I arrived in Florence during ' Fashion Week' when hotel prices are up. I knew that but couldn't change my travel times. For a very small room the not centrally located Hotel Cavaliere charged me close to 200 euros per night.. The room was on the 3rd floor (no elevators), was tiny & dingy with substandard blankets & linen. there was not even a phone in the room or space to put the suitcase. the manager was curt, not helpful with information & just short of being impolite. his staff was more friendly. overall I give. this hotel the worst rating. I never paid so much to receive so little.

You get what you pay for :)

I have just returned from staying at the Hotel Cavaliere in Florence.....
+
Very Clean
Friendly and helpful reception staff
Fairly decent locations
Towels changed and beds made daily (without prompting)
-
Mini Bar fridge was not checked after last person staying before and there were four cans of pop that had been drank by the previous guest, i did not report this because i did not want to implement myself so it is more than likely that i will be charged for these
Reception sometimes left unmanned and even though the door was locked to the main reception, you can still gain access to it via the stairs and lift so i could have quite easily taken the key of somebody else and gained access to their room.... luckily i did not experience such problems but it didnt exactly put my mind at ease
Overall, It was a pleasant stay, i would stay at this hotel again as it really offered value for money and i would recommend Italy to anybody, it really is a beautiful country :D
