Excellent value in a superb location

We rented 2 apartments for a family and friends ski holiday in the wonderful Corvara. We were welcomed on arrival by Jolanda, who remained available for help and advice throughout our stay (I believe she lives in an upper floor).
The apartments were clean, tidy, and personalised signs on the doors welcomed our family. A nice touch. There's no oven in the apartments, but a microwave and hob meant we could cook most meals in the evenings. The bathroom of the larger apartment included a bath/shower, although the bubble jets in the bath didn't work, while the smaller apartment just had a shower. The building has a ski room with a heated boot rack, although returning to it via the steepish drive is a bit challenging when there's ice on the ground.
Without a doubt the best thing about this place is the location, though. Just 5 mins walk from the Borest and Piz Boe gondolas and Corvara Ski School (even in ski boots) and with restaurants, bars and shops even closer, it's perfectly situated. And because Corvara is at the bottom of the pistes, you can ski right up to when the lifts close, and then ski back down to town. But the location comes with another benefit - the view. The main bedroom in each apartment has a balcony which looks out to Sassongher, the stunning mountain that stands guard over Corvara. There's also a shared balcony accessed from the living areas of the apartments, and while this view isn't quite as spectacular, it's a nice place to socialise (if you wrap up). If you're not using both apartments, the balcony can be divided and separated with a wooden gate.
Jolanda also runs a body treatment centre on the lowest floor - ideal for easing post ski stiffness!
We loved our stay, and will definitely use Residence Lis again. The apartments are relatively basic, but very clean, warm, hugely welcoming, and ridiculously well located.
The photos I've posted show the view from the front balconies of Sassongher, the views from the rear balcony, and an evening in the larger apartment playing Cards Against Humanity!

Good location, good size apartment, excellent restaurant

We stayed at Residence Lis for one week in February/March. We stayed in the Boe apartment with two bedrooms. This was perfectly fine for our family of two adults and two children ages 10 & 12. Our focus was on skiing, and as a base for this, Residence Lis was perfect.
This is a family-operated business, and the service was great. They helped arrange a beautiful birthday celebration for our daughter who turned 12 during the visit, with a delicious cake from a nearby bakery, rose petals on the table and the entire family singing for her. A birthday to remember :)
The kitchen was adequately equipped for our needs, which were limited to cooking breakfast every morning. We did not cook any other meals. We did, however, order up from the hotel restaurant on several occasions, and this was excellent. The restaurant is very popular, meaning that you cannot get a table without booking at least day ahead, but as a guest of the hotel you can just order up and dine at your own table.
From the dining table you can watch the ski lifts starting up, both the Boe and the Col Alt. It is an easy five minute walk to both. If you rent your skis at the Col Alt (we did this), you can leave all your equipment there, and walk to and from the lift in regular shoes. Very convenient.
Even though the hotel is on the main road, it is very quiet. Only disturbance was the upstairs neighbour who walked around in ski boots from 5 a.m. on the morning of departure. Other than that, we never heard our neighbours.
Wifi worked fine.
On the downside, it's worth mentioning that the apartment smelled of mildew, probably from the bathroom. This was noticeable upon entering the apartment, but then you got used to it quickly. The beds are very hard, but we got used to this, too, after a few nights.

Ski holiday

We booked this apartment based mainly on price as I was having trouble finding much information on Corvara, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. We had a great holiday, our no.1 priority was skiing but here is more info so you know more clearly what to expect. Firstly the apartment: I would say it was just adequate for the 4 of us given we wanted to stay in the apartment in the evenings after skiing. The main bedroom is nice, the bunks in the second bedroom were really a bit small for my teenage children (low head height) but had good storage, and the kitchen is small and just adequate if you are planning to cook all your meals (we did). For example there is no toaster, no oven (only a convection microwave), and only a 2 burner hot plate. The fridge is very small. There is enough seating around the table and a 3 seat couch. The bathroom is small and the shower is so badly designed it is difficult to shower without flooding the floor. There is very limited space to dry wet clothes – no drying rack provided for ski clothes, gloves, etc. There is a ski storage room downstairs for skis and boots but no clothes drying area. Our main complaints were very poor lighting especially as there was no kitchen light (it was broken and not repaired while we were there) and no reading lights in the bunks, the jacuzzi bath in the bathroom didn’t work (reported but not repaired. This was very disappointing as we could hear our neighbours using theirs every day after skiing!!) The wifi was very poor and intermittent. There were also signs of mould around external walls and windows. Now the location: the main town area (supermarket, ski hire) is located towards the top of the hill around the Col Alto gondola. This is the main access to the big ski area between Corvara, La Villa and San Christiano and we used this lift most mornings. It is about a 15 minute walk up hill from Residence Lis to the Col Alto gondola. You can leave skis and boots at the storage locker at the gondola and walk up in normal boots (we did this). There is also a shuttle bus around the town but we didn’t use it. The other gondola, the Boe, is an easy 5 minute walk from Residence Lis. This gondola connects to the Sella Ronda (clockwise route) and there is a chair here to Colfosco. We used the chair but not the gondola. If you keep your skis at the Residence the easiest thing to do is walk past the Boe to a small chairlift further up the road (10 mins). Catch this and ski to the bottom of the Col Alto. Therefore, reasonably convenient if you can’t afford anything closer to the Col Alto. There is a mini market right next to Residence Lis which is quite well stocked. We ate in the Residence restaurant twice and it has a nice ambience and good food (approx. 25 euros each without drinks). The staff were pleasant, the owner has very limited English but her son speaks English adequately. I tried emailing them for information before the trip but received no response. After visiting Corvara and seeing that there are a lot of apartments and Residences closer to the Col Alto, I can’t help feeling that there is better value for money elsewhere, but Residence Lis is perfectly adequate, and better located than a lot of others if you just want to ski.

Great stay, great value for money

We stayed for 6 nights at Sassongher apartment, they have other types of apartment also. The apartment looks just as describe in the website. 2 big balconys, front and back. Kitchen was fully equipped with all needed. The owner and all staff were really nice and help with every question we had.
The Jacuzzi was great and we enjoy it especially after long trekking day.
The apartment was tidy clean when we got it - I couldn't even believe that anyone stayed there before us.
There is a additional router for good WiFi signal.
Svetlana, the owner, is the most cheerful lady we met, always with smile on her face.
She welcomed us every morning in the breakfast which was great and always which type of eggs do we want.
We really enjoy breakfast.
There is supermarket 10 meters away, and a bigger one in about 5min walk. There is parking lot for the apartments.
Corvara was discovered as great base for trip in most of dolomite area.
We highly recommended Residence Lis in Corvara in Badia !

Enjoyed our 2 day stay here. Friendly staff, good food, reasonable price for our apartment. Close to 4 passes to ride for motorcyclists & good hiking in the area. Not far from the Stelvio pass in Italy and Switzerland.
