Would recommend. A nice little spot in a good location

Warm welcome from lovely people. Situated on tbe Main St. this pub offers B&B above the pub. Rooms are basic but clean. All the staff were so friendly. Breakfast was tasty and good coffee. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for somewhere to throw your head down for the night.

For 99 euros a night, give it a miss.

Very friendly folk. However the carpet was dirty and sticky, both in the room and the hallway, the pillows extremely poor quality, no soap in the shower, no heating in the room. No toilet lid.
We dined a couple of doors down at Seamus’ (manager of Skellys) suggestion, to experience the worst ever meal in Ireland!

Disappointing stay

A trip away booked about 8 months ago to visit my brother and his lovely family. Myself, my partner and 80 year old mum all booked to stay at Skellys which we have all stayed at before and loved it. However this time was a little different to say the least! We arrived on the 24th October to be told my mums room wasn’t going to be ready until 630pm. We all finally got to our rooms, which were nice and clean, but after trying to connect to the WI-FI we’re told it wasn’t working, but wasn’t told when it would work so thought it was just a glitch, little did we know! All week the Wi-Fi was down, so no TV in any rooms and obviously our phones and tablets didn’t work whilst being there unless we used our own data, really not acceptable. Then to top it off we were told there was no cooked breakfast the first morning when there should have been. We spoke to Pat the manager and he was very apologetic and said we would definitely have a cooked breakfast the next morning which we did have, but he also said he would sort something out with our bill when we left. Great we thought. The morning of leaving myself and my partner were charged the full price of our stay and my mum was also charged the full price for her stay, but between the three of us were given in an envelope by the young girl on reception a 50 euro voucher!!! Pat was nowhere to be seen and we weren’t going to argue with the young girl so had to accept it as we had a flight to catch. Well to say We were disappointed was an understatement. Poor poor service from Pat who promised to sort our bill out on the morning we left. 50 euro voucher valid for a year is not acceptable between 3 people. Such a shame as Skellys has always been very accommodating.

The warmest of welcomes

We had never been to Ballymahon before but after visiting Skellys we will definitely be back! Pat and staff went out of their way to help us with anything we needed and the food is fresh and great value. The bar retains the atmosphere of a local and the walls are full of local and social history, everything you would want on a visit to the midlands (and the toilets are spotless.) This is a pet friendly location with staff that care about their customers, they went to great lengths to inform us of the places to go, things to do in the area and to make sure that we had everything we needed. Thank you so much.

Cannot wait to return

We have just returned from a weekend stay and can not wait to return to Skelly’s. The staff are really pleasant & welcoming, nothing us too much for them. The breakfast and evening meals were exceptional, a great pint also. A pet friendly hotel and we could take our dog into the bar/restaurant, she was treated like a queen.
