Yugo Lee Point, Absolutely On Point

I was heading to Cork to watch a concert recently and needed accommodation for one night.
Looking online, prices from the usual suspects was very high, and then I came across Yugo Lee Point.
Now, what this property is not, is a 5 star hotel.
What it is, is a repurposed student accommodation facility that during the summer months, turns into a no frills Hotel. It's a great idea and a very welcome alternative to the expensive hotels in Cork.
It's location is fantastic, and within about a 3-4 mins walk to Cork's Grand Parade.
The reception is a relaxing experience, with plenty of happy and helpful staff to assist checking you in.
The accomodation is no frills, and they lack the usual hotel luxuries like shampoo, body wash etc in the rooms, but reception invite you to grab these and more from a nice display on their reception counter.
The girl that checked me in then explained the room location and escorted me to the lift, explaining along the way things like the 24hr security at reception and how to access the lift etc.
The 'hotel' room is one of 4 or 5 rooms inside a student apartment. The apartment is clean. Tidy and has ample space to lounge around if you wanted to. There is a separate living / communal space with a kitchen, sofas and a TV, although I did not use this space.
Each room has its own card lock. You get an ensuite bathroom, desk space and a large enough bed, although my bed featured a rather well used mattress and I could feel the springs under me. It was not a problem for me though.
For what you are paying for, it's absolutely ideal for a centrally located, comfortable, safe bed for the night if on your own or as a couple.
Check out was as simple as just handing back the card key and that was it. No drama and no drawn out check out processes.
Overall, a great, easy and relaxed experience and if I need a room again for a.noght out in Cork City, I'll be sure to use Yugo Lee Point again.

Very bad experience

We had a very bad experience in this accommodation.
We have booked a hotel double room, with normal related services; we have found a room with a private bathroom, too small for two persons. There is no enough space to move around the bed, the room is less than 8 square metres and the bed is pushed up against the wall, it is accessible only on one side. About services:
- there is no housekeeping included
- there is no phon
- some of electrical sockets don't work
- there is only one bedside table, with no dedicated lamp
- there is no coffee, the and neither kettle
- there is no fridge
- there are no body soap and shampoo
- there is no phone for internal calling.
In the shared kitchen there is no water, no coffee, no kettle.
The room is clearly intended for one person, with a small double bed accessible from one side, one desk and a very little space to move around.
These rooms are intended for students, and sold as hotel double room. The price is too high, and information about the structure are not clear.
The worse thing was that no daily housekeeping was included. Furthermore, the bed was not worthy of a hotel (mattress springs broken), and there was a musty smell in the room, noisy outdoor location with the window open and curtains like in a office.
We feel misled by the way this structure is presented online.
It is also rated with the wrong number of points, beware!

You can find a better stay and service with similar price

Bedsheets, pillows and duvet were very low quality. There were no hangers in the closet, and the room was only moderately clean, with some spiderwebs behind the bathroom door.
The main issue was noise. The room faces the main street and is in a courtyard-like area, so people passing by and talking could be heard clearly. During the night, there were noisy and often drunk guests outside, especially over the weekend, and the disturbance went on for long periods. One night around 3:30 am, a man was using machinery to inflate a car wheel directly in front of the reception, which made it even harder to sleep.
I saw that the hotel offers earplugs in reception, but that is not a practical solution at 2 or 3 in the morning when you are already awake and would have to go downstairs to get them. By that point, the noise had already been going on for a long time, and no one seemed to intervene.
For the atmosphere. It’s that sort of place where the reception is build separate from the entrance so the guess don’t have to go through it, and the next morning, the receptionist simply told me to leave the key in the basket and did not ask how my stay was or offer any farewell.
For the price, location is good, but I expected a much better experience, especially considering the lack of sleep and the limited guest service. You can probably find a proper hotel room nearby for a similar price or 50€/night more.

Very clean and spacious room, great amenities in the common room area (kitchen, etc.). Overall good stay for the price, the check in time is a bit later than other hotels but they allow early bag drop offs

Good but improveable in servii

Room, as per description read when booking, a little small but clean and tidy.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
The only downside was the absence of the hair dryer in the room. Unfortunately even the staff could not provide us with one so we had to give up washing our hair. Fortunately we only stayed one night so the problem was limited.
When booking the hair dryer was indicated as available so I recommend being more careful.
