Paradise

I spent the most amazing week in a yoga retreat in Yama Balian!the hotel itself is an oasis, the rooms are very nice decorated, the garden, pool and view to the river fantastic. The staff is very friendly and always called us by our names,we felt part of their family. Food was always excellent as well. If you want a taste of paradise don’t miss staying at Yama.

Extremely unsafe for solo female travellers.

I had an extremely unsafe and distressing experience staying here and strongly urge others — especially solo female travellers — not to stay.
Before arriving, I explicitly verbalised the need for quiet, space, and privacy, which is the bare minimum any woman should expect — especially as my mother had just passed away. Despite this, I experienced ongoing harassment and what felt like discriminatory treatment from staff throughout my stay.
Every time I moved about the property, my presence was met with loud, overtly passive-aggressive behaviour, controlling actions, and intimidation. At one point, staff asked whether I was staying in my room alone — and immediately following that, a staff member touched me three times without my consent, which was completely unacceptable and made me feel unsafe.
My privacy was repeatedly violated in what was advertised as a private bathroom. I was subjected to intimidation, humiliation, and harassment from both staff and other guests, and no one took responsibility when I raised concerns.
The situation escalated outside the property, where I was followed by the manager and what appeared to be members of a street gang. The manager screamed in my face and leaned into the car I was in, making me feel I could not refuse a payment I had no consent to give. Multiple witnesses were present, yet nobody intervened or helped. The manager yelled at me saying I thought I was superior to everyone else, which is an extreme projection, completely disproportionate to me asking for basic respect, privacy, and autonomy.
Even when you advocate for yourself, basic respect, and autonomy, do not stay here. The property exerts extreme pressure and coercion, creating too much pain, even when you are simply asking for respect from start to finish.
I also paid a lot of money to stay here, and it is shocking that anyone could be treated in this way. I would not want any person — especially those who are kind and trusting — to find themselves in such a situation of vulnerability and complete exploitation.
This entire experience left me feeling coerced, unsafe, and completely unsupported during an already vulnerable time.
I am sharing this as a warning so others can make informed decisions. Based on my experience, I did not feel safe at any point during my stay. There was a lot of traffic noise, chainsaws and cigarette smoke surrounding the property. Not ideal for basic rest let alone a yoga retreat.

Best place in Bali

The rooms are comfortable, fresh. Every detail is taken care of, besides being beautiful you have right there yoga classes, sauna, ice bath. One pass.
The staff is very friendly. Un 10. You can't ask for more! I'm looking forward to coming back

Exceptional dining and atmospheric setting in Balian

Our adult family of four ate here, in this lovely open air pool and river side restaurant amongst their impeccably kept gardens. The ambience was superb, as was the food, and the staff. We had veggie tacos to start then the local noodle dish, a veggie burger, their pictured tuna and octopus followed by lovely desserts accompanied by rose wine. Everything was exceptional and we intend to return before our stay in Balian beach ends. We were not staying here but from what we saw it is a lovely little resort.

The best place in Bali

We enjoyed a magical experience with a delightful stay. All waiters and service were truly awesome, exhibited exceptional patience, understanding, and a warm welcome, making our entire experience unforgettable. The owner, Juan Carlo’s, felt like a friend to us. This is clearly an oasis within Bali. Would recommend to anyone
