Beautiful family home experience with lovely food

Originally designed as a family holiday home, can actually feel the love and care with which it was built, the room is absolutely gorgeous and huge. Not so easy to maintain im sure but they are doing a good job of it. The staff is courteous pretty well informed but could have been a bit more alert since the electricity went out twice in the night and our only way of contacting them is by going outside the room and ringing a real bell. So inverter was not switched on naturally.
The food is excellent, the locations to eat at well thought out, lunch under the banyan tree and dinner at the restaurant.
Monsoons with the river flowing the property must be looking even prettier.
A great place to stay it visiting Ranakpur.

Bad value for money.

Very quiet and pretty place. Good and plentiful food. Other than that, the services are too expensive.
We are offered a beer or a gin and tonic for 5000 rupees per person to see the sunset 2 km away. We walked there ourselves, which was a lovely walk.
Concerning the Leopard Safari outing, you have to pay 8000 rupees per person. We then learned that we had to use our own car, drive about 1h30 to go to a reserve, try to see the leopards, then return to the Lodge, again with 1h30 by car...
I really do not understand. We could do it ourselves by passing a reserve!
No other activities in the Lodge.
Bad value for money.

We are delighted you enjoyed the ambiance and food during your recent stay at the Mountbatten Lodge, however were disappointed by the rating and your comments regarding the ‘value’ of our activities. It is my understanding that you did not in fact choose do either the sundowners or the leopard safari, so cannot accurately comment on the value delivered or not.
For Sundowners, we send two waiters ahead to create a lovely setting for you at a specially selected spot on top of a nearby ridge. This includes a bar, rugs, campaign chairs and tables, and warm shawls for your comfort. In keeping with the traditions of the Colonial days we offer gin and tonics (or beer if you prefer) along with specially prepared canapes.
As for the leopard safari, we recommend you drive in the comfort of your vehicle to Jawai. Here you transfer to a customized jeep where our experienced guide will take you on a thrilling off road adventure in search of the large cats. The myriad of wildlife you encounter and the diversity of the landscape leaves guests breathless.
Guests have been unanimous in their praise at how magical both of these activities are, and up to now, not one of those who has actually experienced them has questioned the price or value.

Excellent and exclusive

Excellent and exclusive. Well designed resort set in the middle of a forest. The staff are trained and attentive and food to die for. My Airtel connection did not work which was a bonus as the last thing you want here is outside disturbance.

Our favourite place on our 100 day trip to India

Fabulous stay here with our son and his girlfriend. We’d already met Reggie, the amazing owner, when we celebrated Holi with him at his Jazz Safari (separate review) and we were thrilled and privileged that he and his lovely wife came to see us at Mountbatten. It’s a beautiful property, located a few hours out of Udaipur, with the Jain Temple at Ranakpur nearby. We stayed in the family suite - two very large suites, sharing a fabulous pool. The staff are excellent - attentive, friendly and efficient. We wanted for nothing. The food was superb - lunch under the banyan tree, cocktails in the bar, dinner in one of the many indoor/outdoor dining areas. One afternoon we had sundowners on a nearby hill - we arrived to chairs set up to see a sunset view to die for and the best gin and tonics! Another afternoon, we were taken on a leopard safari and were lucky to see a mother and two cubs. Reggie and his team (special mention to the fabulous Daragh and the super efficient Chouhan) are amazing to deal with. Reggie is a class act - he has immaculate taste, is a legend in the Indian Tourism Industry and is passionate about his guests receiving 5 star treatment and creating memories to last a lifetime. If you get the opportunity to stay at any if his properties, take it! You won’t regret it!

Sublime and exquisite countryside property, delightfully hosted.

This place is sublime. Beautifully presented colonial style property with exquisite individual bungalows. The owner and host, Reggie and Dara, went far more than the extra mile to make our visit special in every way with an awesome mobile desert camp to spot leopards. Impossible to recommend highly enough
