Warm Hospitality in the Heart of Spiti
The property has a wonderful setting right next to the Tabo Helipad, slightly away from the village main street, which makes it peaceful and scenic. The view of the Spiti landscape, with a little patch of greenery around the huts, really adds to the boutique vibe of the place. The rooms and bathrooms are impressively spacious, which was a pleasant surprise, and the mud-hut style adds to the local feel.
On the flip side, the upkeep could definitely be better. Cleanliness and maintenance—especially in the bathrooms—were below par, and the toiletries provided were very basic. Storage could also be improved; there’s no wardrobe and not much space on the bedside table to keep essentials.
Food is a bit limited in variety but honestly very tasty, and the warmth of the staff more than makes up for the shortcomings. They are extremely cooperative, always ready to help, and add a personal touch to the stay.
All in all, while it’s not the most polished experience, considering you’re in the secluded and breathtaking Spiti region, Spiti Mud Huts is still a decent and memorable place to stay if you don’t mind a few rough edges.
