Safe & Homely getaway for Couples!!
We planned for a 3 day trip to Malvan (Tarkarli) during last weekend of 2013 as we wanted a peaceful and quiet getaway from hectic life of Mumbai. Since we were a couple, Goa would have been more of a noisy spot at that moment. On browsing for reasonable and decent places to stay, we came across Abhiruchi Resort several times. There full-fledged website and information transparency helped us in pinning it down quite readily. We booked the stay in the peak season of new year for nearly INR 6K! If you are not a very class-conscious traveller and want value-for-money, then this is the place to be.
The place is very warm and homely with a very lovable family running the place. The services are very personalized and stay-friendly. Rooms were big with all essential amenities all day. The resort is located in a quiet lane with only sounds of nature around. The premises have beautiful coconut trees and hammocks in the garden for visitors to relax at any time. The facility is very sober and home-like and makes you feel at home while you enjoy your fantastic trip! You feel like coming to home after your long day..one side of the beach is just 5 mins walk from the resort.
In our package, breakfast & dinner was included on all days :) Though we had only dinner on our first day of visit, we were served with breakfast cordially since we had come a long way n were hungry!! The dinner is very well made home made sea food or veg food (as per preference). The quantity is satiating and unlimited. Even for NV lovers, there's a variety and the owner asks what would you like to have for dinner (chicken/fish/crab).
Our return to Mumbai as in the evening but the check out was in morning. So the owner on his own offered us to keep our luggage behind, roam around for the day and collect it back while leaving Malvan. We did exactly that and they offered us rest room also to refresh once we came back to collect our luggage...we relaxed on the hammock for an hour and then left for departure.
Because we had booked the trip late, we had to take a bus to Kudal from Mumbai. At Kudal, after a 1.5 kms walk, the local bus stand is there from where you can catch a bus to Malvan for mere INR 30/- per seat. Though Rickshaws are available in plenty but may cost little high as they are petrol-run (you can give them a lump sum of INR 30-40 for 3-4 kms distance). Since, we were only two of us, we hired an Activa for INR 300/- per day (Petrol additional) from some residents of Malvan with our resort owner's help. They got it for us very easily and economically. We paid advance for only one day and cleared remaining balance on the last day while the vehicle was with us 24x7 and the owner did not even inquire in those 3 days!! You will need to submit original ID proof for the same. DL was not asked for at all anywhere.
For other sight seeing also, the owners chalked out a plan for us and also helped in getting proper guides at economical cost. We enjoyed Scuba-diving, Para sailing along with other water sports (which happen in Karli back waters and Tsunami Island) at a reasonable price. What you mustn't miss is the Chivala beach!! I don't know of any other place in India which is next to this in terms of cleanliness and beauty (in beaches).

Horrible experience
Owner was not cooperative, when asked for extra towel or shampoo he outright denied. AC not upto mark, location is not ideal, too far from city center and not close enough to beach. Hot water is an issue, we need to tell the staff 30 minutes prior to get hot water. Overall not worth, the mtdc huts are way better.

Not Worth the value....
Frequent power cuts... AC rooms don't serve the purpose... Not a room for the value offered.. Food wasn't upto the standard..
You pay for an A/C room and end up with an A/C in the room with no power...

Owners Mr Sandesh Pawar & his son Mr Abhijit were nice person with quite friendly behavior but AC rooms allotted to us were old hence looked shabby. One has to remove shoes out side the room to keep rooms clean. Daily cleaning was there but not up to the mark so rooms never looked fresh. Food was reasonably ok. I will not stay here if happened to visit Malvan

I don't know what to say but this was not what I expected. Room service was very bad, ac was not working, there was nothing good to eat for breakfast or lunch. Location was also bad. Will never refer anyone to go there and spoil your time and money.
