Magic India

It's my first trip to South India. I visited several cities and hotels. The most attractive was in Kochi city. Authentic design, wooden furniture, paintings, shelves with books, vintage chests. The room is spacious, large authentic bed, clean and cozy. I slept like an Angel after walking around the city and the promenade. The location of the hotel is near the ferry and the embankment with beautiful sunsets. Friendly staff and excellent Cook. I'll be back here and recommend friends. And we were met by a very charming young man, Marcus, settled before time and Fed breakfast, told us that we were looking in the city, helped buy tickets for kattakali. Thank you for the guest

Fungus, Mold and Stench

Absolutely harrowing experience. It is a shame that so many reviews here are thoroughly misleading. The hotel is in absolutely despicable condition with fungus and mold on the walls, a horrible stench of rot and extremely unsanitary with dirt and grime everywhere. It seems like the management of the hotel has shifted and has now gone to dogs. If you wish to avoid a creepy, cringe filled time, please avoid this place like the plague.
Since google threw up an error while uploading the pics, I am sharing them in a link for everyone to see how horrible this place is. We did not even last an hour here.

Home from home in Cochin

We had 3 nights here: huge bedrooms in an old Dutch house. Very clean and air conditioned - a relief in the March heat. Excellent location within walking distance of the Chinese fishing nets. Good breakfast included. Markose, the host, is a mine of information and very helpful - felt like home. Peter, the tuk tuk driver we used from the Bungalow, is also very knowledgeable and helped us get around to all the sites. One of the friendliest places we stayed on our Kerala trip.

Perfect Stay

Totally wonderful stay at Ballard Bungalow. It is a beautiful old Dutch Colonial building. Absolutely perfect location .The owner Marcus is charming, helpful , very knowledgeable and all the activities and transport he arranged for us was efficient and the right price. Glorious large heritage type rooms. Good Wi Fi, Air Con, Hot Water, Breakfast. The double rooms have huge beds that can be split to make singles if required. Just great value for money and "location location" . Would not hesitate to book again or recommend to friends.

A truly authentic heritage experience

A walk in historic Fort Kochi left us at the gate of Ballard Heritage Bungalow. We wandered in, met Markose, the easy-going on the surface but hard working behind the scenes manager. Each of the rooms is distinctly historical, well-maintained, extremely spacious, and clean with high quality bedding. I really appreciated the distinctive heritage feel, not gentrified, but fully intact. Markose was friendly, always available to share his ample knowledge of Fort Kochi and makes great coffee to boot. Genuine colonial chaise lounges offer a relaxing view of the courtyard. This place is a real hidden gem.
