Serene

Ri Kynjai is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you’ve left. From the moment you arrive, there’s a calm, almost magical atmosphere—the stunning lakeside setting, the gentle breeze, and the thoughtfully designed space make it feel like a true escape from the chaos of everyday life.
The food is absolutely exceptional. Every dish feels carefully crafted, with fresh ingredients and rich, comforting flavors that highlight both local and global influences. Whether it’s a hearty traditional meal or something more contemporary, everything is cooked to perfection and served beautifully.
What truly elevates the experience, though, is the warmth of the hospitality. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and taken care of, striking that perfect balance between attentive and relaxed.
Ri Kynjai isn’t just a place to eat or stay—it’s an experience. Peaceful, indulgent, and deeply memorable. I can’t recommend it enough.

Great Experience. Overall good location and views would surely come back. Many near by places to visit as well as the view of umiam from the room and many other good places... Hospitality was also great Overall it was a great experience and amazing Value for money

Serenity prevails

The highlight of this property are the scenic views it offers. Beautiful locally sourced materials used for decorating add to local vibe. Services are average - though Mr. Mishra in dinning stood out for his hospitality. The short walk to the lake is risky due to no maintenance. The cottages have stairs - so not recommended for people with mobility issues. Rooms are spacious. Breakfast buffet is average. Due to the remote location eating out is not an easy option. The name is apt - serenity prevails.

Great location, tremendous service

Our group of 8 (4 couples) stayed at Ri Kynjai for 4 nights and we had a wonderful time at the resort. First, the location is mind blowing with most rooms and hotel facilities opening onto the lake. The instant you draw curtains in the morning, you get a view of the nature in its truest glory. There is a nice trail running from the property that takes you close to the waters. Secondly, they have an outstanding team that goes out of way to make your stay memorable and comfortable. Lastly, the food is consistently good and they deliver the customisations that guests ask for.
The only con is that the property is a bit rundown now and can do with some refurbishment.

Unprofessional reception but beautiful property

Wonderful setting on the Barapani lake, great service at the restaurant and spa. Great food throughout the day. Loved to go back. BE CAUTIOUS! Take pictures of your room when you check in. We were accused of taking a rattan flower vase after checkout even though someone came in the room while we were checking out and all is given clear. We got a call after 20 min and the lady was rude and insulting. It was a sad way to say goodbye to a beautiful property. What a shame!
