When Care Becomes the Journey
Last week, I travelled to Mizoram—Aizawl—on one of my North Eastern business tour programs. I had booked a homestay, and on arrival my driver charged ₹1,800 before finally dropping me there after a long search. By then, fatigue had already set in. Thankfully, my associates were waiting; they helped me check in, settle down, and rest.
The next morning, my body gave a clear signal—I had caught a bad flu and cold during travel. For the next two days, the homestay became my whole world. It was quiet, comforting, and deeply beautiful: stunning hill views by day and starry nights by silence. My office boys looked after me with care and patience, keeping me on a simple diet of fruits and liquids. Illness strips you down to essentials—and in that simplicity, kindness becomes everything.
By the third day, I gathered enough strength to finish my work and begin my return. I missed my early flight to Kolkata and had to take the Aizawl–Guwahati–Kolkata route. After nearly three hours of waiting at the airport, the flight was cancelled. That’s when my body finally gave in. I felt intensely cold, weak, and unwell.
What followed, however, touched my heart.
I was taken to the airport health unit, where I experienced something rare and deeply reassuring. The airport staff, airline team, and health assistants came together seamlessly. I was given a clean space, calm attention, and genuine care. Nothing felt rushed. Nothing felt transactional. The systems may not be “world-class” in equipment, but the human class was exceptional.
When we travel, we often measure experiences by hotels, flights, or efficiency. We rarely think about what happens if we fall sick—especially far from home. That day, I discovered civic sense, empathy, and dignity all existing in one quiet corner of an airport in the hills.
At 58, this experience stayed with me. Even as I flew back a few days later, still recovering, I carried a deep sense of gratitude. Gratitude for the people who showed up, for the gentleness of strangers, and for a place that reminded me that care is the most powerful infrastructure of all.
This is why Aizawl is not just a destination I visited—it’s a place I will return to.
Not just for work.
But to say thank you.

Aziwal Mini Vacation
Remainder of the stay in 305 and hotel in general compared to my previous stay last year I’m going to give 3 average. The food will give 5/5 and that was the only highlight.
The staff need training, the owner needs to visit the property more and actually audit his rooms and level of cleanliness and maintenance. In all honesty I would truly not recommend this property. I feel bad for Opa is the only asset and the Chef. The lady receptionist is also a star. The other male receptionist should not work front desk or hospitality industry. The remainder of the staff besides the ones I mentioned have no clue of the hotel industry or hospitality in general. Laundry services are a joke, 285 INR for 8 items.. none were even ironed or pressed… washed and placed back in the same bag. There was no paper work for me to fill out for the service I require either.

A hotel with great staff who try to make you feel at home
They have given me the largest room in the hotel, if you see the pictures, you will understand that it is a real large room. The bathroom was a disaster, it is not well designed, the wash basin is inside while the pot is near the door. They have solar water heating system, if there's no su then you have to take shower with cold water. The food was okay, however the service time is long. They other people at the hotel do not understand English or Hindi properly, that may be a challenge in communicating with them.
I may not recommend to stay here, but it's not that much negative, else I would not have give a 4 rating.
