Awful stay with broken windows at this ‘Nightmare Guesthouse’.

This was awful. I received a message on the morning of our expected stay to be told that they didn’t have a card reader. Could we pay by bank transfer or cash. It’s difficult to transfer from GBP to ISK with my bank, so I had to change cash. 38000 ISK (>£230). Reason given was to save the owner bank charges, so I’ll pay them instead.
That would be fine if it was a Dream Guesthouse, but it wasn’t, it was awful. 4 rooms sharing 1 bathroom. That’s 8 people waiting to take a shower in the morning. Not much fun if you want to use the loo in the morning.
The place is rundown and the only thing that was pleasant was the passable view that we spied through the broken glass window when we woke up.
The breakfast included’ is a ‘help yourself from the fridge’ affair, which concluded a wholly unacceptable stay.
We will not be returning.

Disappointed

Horrible outside of the house and damaged steps, porch and parking lots. Overcharge the price on the checking date with cash only using the flexible rate of euros to American dollars regardless of an original booking price. Tricky strategy of ripping off guests is hidden. Very disappointed experience, incomparable with others that charge booking price with credit cards.

Nightmare stay

Looks like an abandoned building, shabby exterior and broken windows- surely a safety issue. 4 rooms - but only a shared WC which we were not prepared for. Also the absent owner demands payment in cash - we wondered why ? Paper thin walls between rooms. Overall less of a dream - more of a nightmare.

Avoid this place!!!!

I will give this property a rating of 0 if it is available. I made reservation monthes before my trip to Iceland through booking.com. Several days before my trip, I got an message ask about bed arrangement, I replied that even though four beds included in the room, we only have three people, and I prefer three single beds. 5pm on that day and couple hours before we are planning to check in, I got a message from the property manager that my reservation is cancelled! The last minutes cancellation was terrible. Now reading other people's review, I see that I am not alone. Don't book this property unless you have a backup plan.

Avoid!

Owner canceled my booking last minute, causing quite a lot of stress. Worse, tried to pin the blame on me instead of either owning up to his mistake or offering me alternative accommodation.
As he will likely reply to this and again try to blame me, I should explain that he has his booking.com account set to issue a “booking confirmed” email, but then after that point, he tries to debit the card on file for the full rate - even though it clearly says “pay at property.”
I made the booking around 11:00, then went on a hike and long drive where I did not check emails. So it was a complete surprise to arrive - late in the evening, to be told the owner has canceled it and then to be told it’s me at fault.
This was during a busy period and I was forced to book a much more experience place nearby.
I attempted to reach out to the owner the following day with hopes he could at least offer an apology, but he again claims it’s all me at fault here.
Place honestly didn’t look that great anyway, so best to avoid in any case…
