To regain strength

I can only comment on their restaurant, so I can only say that their dishes are very complete and tasty. The staff is very friendly and attentive to all your needs. I only have one drawback, they don't serve alcohol, when a cold beer feels great.

Sorry to say it, but need to improove

Our room have issues with the bath, was difficult to activate or deactivate the hot water, also we requested the rooms because we are going with our event (the event was amazing but it is a different business as far as I know), and never offered any discount because que have all the "benefits" including the pool... Sorry to say that there is no pool at all!

Definitely a solid choice

I've been to Bambu any number of times and really should have commented on it. I've been there with friends, groups, my kids, etc. Over the years the facilities have steadily improved and creature comforts (wifi, readily available hot water) have gotten dramatically better. Bambu is popular with groups, be it local business groups, receptions, futbol teams, or mission groups. The rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable. The pool is very nice -- my kids have used it a number of times. The restaurant is fine... when there is a crowd there is a breakfast buffet, otherwise you can order a la carte. Dinner at the restaurant is fine, but when possible I opt out for a couple of reasons. First, the Bambu is dry (indeed they do not want you to even possess alcohol on premises, although I've seen some open and notorious drinking -- coolers of beer -- at the pool and nothing was said). Second, and more importantly, there are better options in Mazate for food. But as a hotel goes? It cannot be beat. I'll keep staying here.

Very Good for Location

Mazatennango is not a tourist destination. In the interior of the country away from any tourist sites, the choices are limited. Tripadvisor rates it 1 of 1 hotels in Mazatenango. That isn't really accurate, because there are other hotels in Mazatenango - just not any other hotels in which I would consider staying!
The security of the hotel is absolutely excellent. You will never be concerned when on their property. I have been coming here since 2004, and none of us have ever had issues.
This time, like past times, there were 3-4 U.S. mission teams staying at the hotel. The hotel staff is accustomed to this. Over the years, I have seen improvements in the grounds, the lobby, and the rooms. All improvements have been appreciated.
My room was very clean, and I sincerely appreciated their mattress upgrades - no more thin mattresses!!! For me, I always had at least warm water for my showers, although other members of my team were not as lucky. I think rooms closer to the back of the property have a better chance of hot or warm water, because they are closer to the water boiler.
While they provide towels, they do not provide washcloths, so bring your own. On two days I was given a pretty thread-bare towel; they should retire some of their worn towels.
They have upgraded to flat screen TV's in the rooms, although I could not find a single English-speaking channel.
All in all, another safe and comfortable stay at the Bambu.

Felt safe

Felt safe.-guards at front Was clean. Food was ok, fruit good. Was traveling in a group and price was ok. Pool decent. Hot water. Would stay there again. Other US faces were there. Very limited English by staff but they understood meal/coffee
