Cannot recommend highly enough

We had a wonderful three days at Eleonas and cannot recommend it highly enough. I even thought twice about posting such a positive review so the secret doesn't get out, but Manolis was so welcoming and kind that I had to. The location is up in the hills, lovely and cool, with nature all around: rustling trees, gushing water, and chirping birds. The hotel puts on a great spread for breakfast and dinner, and there were lots of great trips during the day to see Minoan ruins, the south coast, canyon hiking, and more. I'm sure we'll be back. The rooms are clean, simple but comfortable, and good value.

Enchanting place

There are no real words for this unique place, Eleonas has enchanted us. The people, the excellent Service, the great food and the peace. One is awakened by the chirping of the birds and goes to sleep with the scent of the herbs in the nose.
Manolis is an attentive host who makes sure guests feel comfortable. The hiking map is an excellent way to make trips to the area, as well as tips for trips to the coast are great described.
Breakfast leaves nothing to be desired and the buffet for dinner is varied and fun to choose and taste.
Both pools invite you to swim and feel good.
We booked the next stay directly on site.

A splendid property with gracious hospitality

My wife and I spent three nights at Eleonas Country Village in early May, 2026. I highly recommend the property.
All lodgings have two sides – the “hard” product, which comprises of the rooms, furnishings, landscaping. HVAC, and so on, and the “soft” product, which is the service. Eleonas Country Village excels at both. In particular, on the “soft” side, the hotel offers the highest level of hospitality, one where you feel welcome, and your needs are anticipated.
We had a Deluxe Cottage with Hot Tub. The cottage was especially private, with our patio screened by the cottage itself from other cottages and the paths through the property. We had a nice view over the valley below. There was a nice sized two person jacuzzi hot tub in the patio, along with a café table with two chairs and two chaise lounge chairs. All were comfortable. The patio has good lighting in the evening, so you can move about (and enjoy the jacuzzi) without issue.
The interior was amply sized, with a separate sitting area (couch with separate rocking chair) and a fireplace, and behind which was the comfortable king-sized bed. The room was very well lit.
There was a separate sink area with a coffee maker, hot plate, and hot pot for tea, as well as a sink and small refrigerator The room was well stocked with coffee and tea.
The bath had a shower, toilet, and single sink. It, too, was well lit. The shower had good water pressure. The towels and linens were of first quality.
Everything was spotlessly clean.
Since the property is on a hillside (with most of the room being uphill), you can expect a decent workout walking down to the restaurant and back up afterwards. In our case, the climb was maybe 150 feet.
I was impressed that all of the public areas of the hotel were well-maintained, the paths swept, and the plantings well-manicured, and everything worked the way it was supposed to work. The paths were very well lit for your walk back to your cottage after dinner.
The restaurant offers a buffet breakfast, and a buffet dinner (with the option also of ordering from a menu). We enjoyed the buffet at all our meals. All of the dishes we ate were terrific. I don’t think I’ve ever had a buffet that was as successful at this one (ok, the lavish Thanksgiving buffet at the Four Seasons Santa Barbara was better, but that was $250/person).
The hotel offers its own label wine – so you can enjoy a very nice bottle of white Cretan wine for $14 (as of our stay). Although you get your food from the buffet, the staff provides drinks and clears plates.
All the staff were friendly and engaging.
The owner, Manolis Saridakis, seems to be everywhere, and is one of those proprietors that can simply make a guest feel at home almost instantly. There were lots of little touches – for example, on arrival you are given a map that shows a score or more things to do in the area and also outlines 12 or so hikes that can easily be done from the property. Terrific.
Many of the guests we met – this is a convivial place, with guests interacting constantly – had been coming to Eleonas Country Village for multiple years. I could see why.
This is a special place. I commend it without hesitation.

Unforgettable experience

Our stay at this hotel in the Cretan mountains was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness, creating an immediate feeling of comfort and exclusivity.
The cottages are beautifully designed, combining authenticity with high-end comfort. The bedding is outstanding—easily among the best we’ve experienced—ensuring truly restful nights in a peaceful environment.
Every detail of the place reflects quality and care: from the elegant facilities to the impeccable service. The heated pool is a real highlight, allowing you to fully relax while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
The landscape itself is simply stunning, offering a perfect blend of serenity and natural beauty. It’s a place where you can truly disconnect and recharge.
In short, this hotel delivers a refined, welcoming, and unforgettable experience. We would return without hesitation.
